ATM Review of DCBR003:
Kryptik & Samurai's Ram-associated DC Breaks serves up its third release with two immense pieces of peak-time D&B courtesy of Samurai, Screwface and CTRL Z's Dash. Relaxed rollers these two tunes are not, with both showcasing an enormity of sound that leaves you stunned. Fans of Noisia and what some people like to call 'neuro' definitely need to check this record. There's not really much that can be said about either 'Sucker Punch' or 'Freak Show' other than that the beats are tight, the vibes are bang on and the production is superb. This is some next level drum & bass.
Dan Havers, aka DJ Samurai, began rolling out dnb on DJ Kid's Restless Natives imprint in 2004. Not long after a brief encounter with Andy C brought him and DJ Kryptik to the RAM camp, where the partnership was set in stone under the DC Breaks moniker.
Having had releases on Frequency and High Lite the duo have now set up DC Breaks Recs with the RAM crew, an exclusive imprint for their own sound. DCBR001 hit the shelves in February, and DCBR003 has just been released having received plenty of heavyweight support from leading DJs across the scene - stay tuned to hear exclusive previews of all releases. DCBR004 on the way!
Current releases include collaborations with CTRL Z's DJ Dash, Colony Productions' Diagoro (Abstakt Knights), as well as an exclusive remix of Aquasky's classic 'Sucker Punch'.
