Together, America Can Do Better

About Me

I am the former Governor of Vermont and current Chairman of the Democratic National Committee. Since accepting this position in February of 2005, we have made a lot of progress toward rebuilding the Democratic Party from the grassroots up. The DNC has placed organizers in all 50 States and recently achieved unprecedented electoral victories across the country in November of 2006.
A big part of the "50 State Strategy," is the Democracy Bonds Community . I am proud of this program because it asks average Americans from Main Street, not K Street, to provide the resources necessary to win elections and reclaim our democracy. The Democracy Bonds Community is made up of teachers, students, veterans, members of the military, retirees, and all types of Americans giving small, monthly contributions to the Democratic Party.
In addition, we have created PartyBuilder, a social networking software just for Democrats. Through PartyBuilder, thousands of Democrats across the country and across the world can connect with one another online. By creating a profile, joining groups and planning events though PartyBuilder, Democrats can meet up and work towards improving their communities and their country.

The Justice Department under President Bush, Attorney General Gonzales, and other administration officials has become a breeding ground for injustice. Voter discrimination against minority groups in Minnesota and Florida and Gonzales’ political purging of eight prosecutors are only a few of the administration’s wrongdoings. Enough is enough. Democrats in Congress have demanded accountability from the Bush administration and have fought for real improvements in issues ranging from the minimum wage to prescription drugs to protecting civil liberties. Please donate now and help us take back the White House and Justice Department in 2008.

Who will finally sign the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act? Not President Bush, and none of the 2008 Republican presidential candidates, that’s for sure. Their refusal to sign even stands in opposition to the 60 percent of Republicans who support expanded protection of the LGBT community’s civil rights. Does Matthew Shepard ring a bell? He may be the most publicized victim of a hate crime based on sexual orientation, but similar cases abound everyday – and they deserve to be taken seriously. Hate affects everyone. Donate to the Democratic Party and help us reject hate today.

“America is addicted to oil.” These were the words of President Bush 18 months ago. Since then, he and the 2008 Republican presidential hopefuls have paid nothing but lip service to the issue of global warming. Just days prior to the summit announcement, the White House rejected a G8 climate change agreement. Romney, McCain, Tancredo, and Brownback have all opposed strict fuel efficiency standards. McCain has opposed renewable energy standards. And Giuliani is avoiding the issue altogether. As long as Big Oil keeps Republicans flush with cash, they will continue to harm our efforts to stop global warming. Let’s elect a Democratic president in 2008 and get serious about climate change. Donate to the Democratic Party today.
