Winnipeg-based, metis and Scots style fiddler Jennilee Martineau has been immersed in music from a young age, taking her first lessons from her father at the age of eight. Jennilee recently completed at Studio Recording/Post Production course at Recording Arts Canada in beautiful Montreal and is currently working as a sound tech at the Franco-Manitoban Cultural Centre in Winnipeg's French quarter. While in Scotland Jennilee engineered solo CD's for her classmates and recorded her own solo CD entitled "Apparitions", which was released in 2005. "Apparitions" is a showcase of Jennilee's mastery of traditional pieces along with a taste of her own compositions. She currently teaches fiddle at the Martineau Strings School of Fiddling, and recently recorded a Christmas CD entitled "Martineau Strings Christmas" as part of a project for her students. Jennilee's main musical influences include, Natalie MacMaster and Ashley MacIsaac, April Verch, as well as Scottish fiddle player Charlie MacKerron of Capercaillie and Alisdair Fraser.
