Based out of Toronto, Canada, Modernboys Moderngirls (MBMG) hits the stage with a blistering sound; a back and forth brawl between sexy punk-funk and garage soul music.
Led by vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Akira Alemany, Modernboys Moderngirls put on a visceral live show that is quickly earning MBMG a reputation as one of the most exciting up and coming bands emerging from the Toronto indie music scene.
After two standout performances at the Canadian Music Week and the North by Northeast Festivals in 2007, Modernboys Moderngirls are getting ready to release their debut full-length album, "I Might As Well Break It" on May 30, 2008.
The new album, mixed by Ryan Mills (Born Ruffians, Most Serene Republic), is an exposed live wire set loose to the sound of 60s soul, 50s pop, garage and classic rock rhythms.
The band will be performing in this summer's Edgefest lineup, July 12/08 at Downsview Park in Toronto along with headline performers Stone Temple Pilots, Sam Roberts Band and others. Click here to see the full lineup.
