When routine bites hard and ambitions are low

About Me

Hello. My name is Jen and I'm an alcoholic. I used to live in London but then banished myself to the other side of the world to grow up and get a real job. (I used to call it the arse end of the world, but I've got used to it now.)
By day, I am a PR harlot, directing very good fun accounts like deliciously super-premium 42 Below vodka, NZ Music Awards and the very excellent Xbox 360; by night, I trawl Auckland City's bars and get paid for my recollections. Life could be worse.
I like to tell long jokes badly and loudly, drink too much and too often, and will quit smoking again as soon as I finish that Alan Carr book. I often fall over when tipsy and have a tendency towards attempting the Caterpillar on dirty sticky floors and fashioning toilet paper wigs if no real wigs are forthcoming. I am always embarrassing but, alas, always the last to bed. I enjoy inflicting my collection of weird disco, cheesy funk, obscure post-punk and naff cover versions on people. Beware the back-to-mines...
I have been with the love of my life for more than a year now. He could do with a little rust cut out but otherwise he drives like a dream.
I used to do a little thing called this: Southsidesoul . I'm back writing a little thing called this: Smacked Face . I sometimes do a little show on a radio station called this .
I miss Brixton and (strangely) still hanker for Glasgow. When I grow up I want to live in Barcelona.

Sweet soul music

So. I just got a lovely comment. From James Headphone Sex, you might have seen it. He complained his summer was somewhat devoid of sweet soul music, an ailment he misguidingly put down to a certain so...

Forever apologise, forever explain

I like to live my life by the dictum "never apologise, never explain". Unfortunately, the way I live my life means I spend an awful lot of my time both apologising and explaining, and it is with this ...
