THE "GAIJIN A GO-GO" BUZZ

"GO GO SEE GAIJIN GO GO! LOVED THEIR FIRST CD. LOOKING FORWARD TO THEIR NEXT ALBUM." -FRED SCHNEIDER, A B-52

”INFAMOUS . . . GLEEFULLY ERSATZ “ - THE NEW YORK TIMES

”UM…ITS A BIT WEIRD. I DONT KNOW HOW TO SAY IT.“ - STEVEMCCLURE, AUTHOR OF NIPPON POP ON NPR
“THEY’RE NOT QUITE JAPANESE, BUT QUITE ANIME. SIXTIES-STYLIN GAIJIN A GO-GO SHIMMY THEIR FRILLY, SHINY, BOOTY-TWITCHIN ELECTRONICA ON SUCH HITS AS WASABI MAN AND TEMPURA MENTAL. GO-GO BOOTS AND BEEHIVE DO ARE OPTIONAL.” - THE VILLAGE VOICE
“A MOCK JAPANESE POP BAND THAT FLATTERS MORE THAN IT MOCKS, GAIJIN A GO-GO PLAYS SEQUIN-STUDDED 60S SWING-ROCK THATS GOOD FOR A LAUGH AND A TWIST. THE BAND MEMBERS ARE MOSTLY WESTERNERS FROM NEW YORK, BUT THEY ALL HAVE FAKE JAPANESE NAMES. SAMPLE LYRIC: JAPANESE BREAKFAST CHA CHA CHA / I TRY TO BE POLITE, SO I JUST HAVE GREEN TEA CHA CHA CHA. SAMPLE SONG TITLE: WASABI MAN (MOOG POWER). THE MUSIC IS AS HAMMY AS IT SOUNDS, BUT THE GROOVES ARE INTENSELY INFECTIOUS FOR THOSE WHO LIKE THEIR HAM HEAVILY GLAZED. BE READY FOR ACE COSTUMES TOO.” - THE ONION
"PROVIDING SOPHISTICATED AMUSEMENT BY VIRTUE OF HAVING ARTIFICIALLY MANNERED QUALITIES." - US FRONTLINE MAGAZINE PROFILE FOR JAPANESE SALARYMEN LIVING IN NYC (HONEST!)

Greetings from the Far East...River, Brooklyn, New York. Over the bridge and through groovy woods to the home of GAIJIN A GO-GO. Feels a bit foreign at firstand it is. "Gaijin" is the Japanese word for "foreign barbarian." And "go" means the number five. Five -five, get it?

The best of the East meets the beats of the West with a sound that gets your booty shakin’. Coming from a city where it’s normal for different cultures to electrify one another, GAIJIN A GO-GO are a high-voltage short circuit. It’s the sound you never knew you were missing: a Hullabaloo lost in translation!
GAIJIN A GO-GO: With a wink and prayer always sending the message to Let The Rising Sun Shine In!
