About Me

MoMT Records is a Independent label based in Newbury, Berkshire UK.

We are a label dedicated to release leftfield music from a number of genres including Industrial rock, electronica, IDM and ambient. We are also fighting a war against the compliancy of a highly mediocre music scene where bad "Indie pub rock" dominates and image is more important than talent and originality.

We've released music from the bands UCNX, Vultures, K-Nitrate, Audio War and solo projects Gusto Extermination Fluid , Skink,Holon and Shinji Yamashita.

Our most recent releases are from Gusto Extermination Fluid, UCNX, Skink, K-Nitrate and the various artists Chemlab tribute - Songs from the Hydrogen Bar.
Skink has recently been played on the Annie Nightingale show on BBC Radio 1 and Dutch Radio station Kink FM, whilst Gusto Extermination Fluid have been played on Tom Robinson's Radio 6 show.

UCNX - Absolute Zero - Available on CD and Download

Absolute Zero is the debut release by US band UCNX and it's hotter than a man who has just set his trousers on fire.Taking their cue from the sounds of prime Wax Trax and Re-Constriction records and bands such as the rock influence Chemlab, the intricate electro Front Line Assembly, and even the intelligent sounds of Haujobb, UCNX push these influences into the21st century kicking and screaming all the way with clear, emotional vocals & a nod to the past.

The mini album features 9 tracks 5 of them originals by UCNX, 3 remixes including stunning remakes by the excellentCyanotic and Deadliner. The release is topped of with a brooding cover of the Alice in Chains classic Sea of Sorrow.

Gusto Extermination Fluid - The Cleaner - On CD and Download

GEF is a reflection of the spiralling madness that is 21st century humanity and a witness to its final descent intohate-fuelled oblivion. "The Cleaner" is an album that combines old school industrial, electronica, dark ambient and dub andpushes them into new sonic places. Sounding like a soundtrack to a film centred on urban decay and life in a soulless posteverything society, “The Cleaner” takes the listener on a journey through the wasteland of modern life. From the powerfulbody hit of tracks like ‘Wound’ and ‘Hurone B’ to the brooding dark ambience of ‘Pileus’ and ‘Bees Tick’ , “The Cleaner”undulates with the menace and dread of the world that lurks beneath the surface. Musical points of reference would beFuture Sound of London’s Dead Cities (if the hippy shtick was buried alive), Scorn, Terminal Cheesecake, EinsturzendeNeubauten, Test Dept and electronic records labels like Ant-Zen and Hymen.

My Interests

Unsurprisingly music.

I'd like to meet:

Bands and artists that are doing something interesting musically and are not just following the latest fad. So that's a big no to all you sub-rate Oasis clones and you boring singer songwriters.

ARTIST VIDEO PROFILE:

SKINK

Skink is the project of Paul Mulholland, a Newbury based Electronica /IDM artist. Paul started music when he was 12. He started making music under the name Skink in 2000. He has recently signed a record deal with MoMT Records, who are about to release his debut self titled release in 2007. The album was recorded over the last 6 years in various places and situations.

Influenced by bands such as the Aphex Twin, Plaid, Boards of Canada and Brian Eno.

The following is taken from the MoMT Records Press Release for the album Skink.

"Skink is the debut release by Newbury, UK based electronica artist Paul Mulholland. The album is the fruits of five years of labour. The tracks were recorded in a variety of locations and situations and mirror a musical and personal journey.

Although the album takes is influenced by bands such as Boards of Canada, Brian Eno, Plaid and the ambient works of Richard D. James (AFX, Aphex Twin), Skink manages to create his own identity amongst these pioneers.

The album touches on many musical styles from the sparse piano opening track “Nothing” to the dark unsettling ambience of “Minutes turn to Hours” to the melodic and dreamlike “Who we are?”

Best listened to in a single sitting Skink should hopefully drag the listener into its rich and complex world of musical ideas and sonic textures.

The album was mastered by John Sellekaers (Xingu Hill, Dead Hollywood Stars) at his Metarc studios and is the eighth release from Newbury based UK Independent label MoMT Records."
