About Me
HINDU PEZ is the industrial/powernoise/digital hardcore project of Gabriel Perry.
Being a multifaceted creature, Gabriel has played guitar for the industrial metal band 'Krieg Der Kinder',
Dj'd a goth/industrial club night for 2 years under the moniker 'Dj Who?', and has played guitar
for the hardline industrial/metal band 'hERETICS iN tHE lAB'. Gabriel also has a string of side projects
and one-off projects, such as the powernoise project 'Cyborg Death Squad'.
HINDU PEZ began in mid 2003, when Gabriel began to become increasingly bored with what he was hearing
coming out of the club scene, as well as what was being played on standard format rock radio. A Dj friend
gave him his first few lessons on mixing and production, which gave him a new musical direction. The result
of this tinkering was the first HINDU PEZ release...an extremely limited run of a disc titled "Collective
Unconscious".
"Collective Unconscious", now an extreme rarity (and a much sought-after item in HINDU PEZ fan circles) was
not recieved well within the local club scene, and was mostly ignored. Not easily bothered by other opinions,
Gabriel carried on.
2004 saw the end of Gabriel's workings with 'Krieg Der Kinder', which gave a renewed fuel to compose what many
feel is the best HINDU PEZ album.
"Stopping the Ministry of Peace" was written through most of 2004, and was released in January of 2005. Live gigs,
a music video for the lead off track "song of protest and hope", and various Dj gigs (at clubs and parties alike)
helped to push the album to as many people as Gabriel came in contact with. This, coupled with releasing the album
for free download on the internet (as opposed to an actual hard copy disc) made the album easy to aquire, hence
reaching more people.
"Stopping the Ministry of Peace" was a combination of some of Gabriel's favorite genres, including digital hardcore,
industrial, powernoise, hardcore techno, and more. The end result was a well-recieved disc that still recieves
college radio play and club play.
Towards the middle of 2005, HINDU PEZ put out a 3-song EP entitled "the 'ANTI' EP", featuring the bombshell track
"anti EMO anthem", blasting the entire emo fashion and music scene out of the water. This disc, released in
limited numbers, was a sort of musical continuation of "Stopping the Ministry of Peace". Deep, over-distorted kick
drums, hard breakbeats, walls of static and various noises, and insulting samples made this EP sizzle with
anger.
With 2005 coming to an end, HINDU PEZ remixed 5 tracks from the Chrono Cross video game soundtrack, and released
it for free online download, via the website www.chronocompendium.com. Shortly after, HINDU PEZ released a new
disc titled "collaborations and remixes", featuring various remixes done around the end of "the 'ANTI' EP"
sessions, as well as collaborative tracks with the well-known online model BitchInBlack, and noisemaster Dj RedSkeye.
This disc also featured the now well-known HINDU PEZ remix of "ode to joy" by Beethoven.
Not to let the remainder of the year go to waste, HINDU PEZ recorded a live set in Charlottesville, Virginia, to be
put out the following year.
2006 saw HINDU PEZ somewhat silent, working on a new self-titled record, as well as the live album. "Live in Charlottesville,
VA" was released in September 2006 to rather enthusiastic hands, and quickly sold out. The extreme, raw energy of the
live set came through to listeners, and was well recieved. More live gigs, Dj gigs, and online promotion helped to
put the word out about this disc and the other, previous discs.
To finally bring 2006 to a close, HINDU PEZ released the long-awaited new, full length self-titled album. The disc was
released in November 2006 and did more than meet expectations. Returning to the online free-for-download format, Gabriel
saw (yet again) the potential of online releasing, as the downloads piled on.
HINDU PEZ has been performing live since "Stopping the Ministry of Peace", and has played with many bands, including
The Minus Men, Deviljoy, Collapse Into Reason, Bajskorv, k1LLing the Cure, Mpiredwn, In Tenebris, The Missing, Angel 99, hERETICS iN tHE lAB, Amphetamine Virus, Morgueasm, Sinthetic Nightmare, Myotis, Die Maschine, and many, many more.
HINDU PEZ also performed at NOISEFEST at the well-known noise venue "The Ratward" in Hampton, VA in 2004. There are also
various tracks that have been released on compilations, including Charlottesville's WNRN industrial compilations.
With 2007 finally here, HINDU PEZ has much more in store. Don't get off the ride just yet...
