I love collecting film and TV memorabilia, autographs of the famous and infamous, music, movies, collectible toys and gizmos. I throw movie parties with friends, and enjoy strange and bizarre outings and encounters. I love dogs and cats, (all animals really). I have a dog named Sassie, a 7 year old collie that looks like Lassie, and a 1 year old cat named Spooky. I've designed my house to be a creatively conducive atmosphere and I love nothing more than opening my home to friends both old and new and playing host to them.
People who are fun and positive. I detest sports, so I'm probably not going to get along with "ball groupies" that well. If you love life and eat it up with a big shiny spoon, then you'd enjoy hanging with me. No sad sacks, please. It's all about living every moment! I love wildly creative people, artists, actors, singers, musicians, etc. Oh yeah, I've NEVER tried alcohol, (the smell grosses me out) and I don't do drugs at ALL, so I'm probably not going to do well with alkies or duggies or hardcore partiers. I figure if people need artificial stimulation to enjoy all that this wonderful life has to offer, then they must be pretty boring at heart.
I'm working on a short film that I wrote that deals with 80's music, so I've been exhaustively researching music from that decade. But I enjoy music of all genres. And NO, I don't consider Crap music, uh...I mean Rap music...actual MUSIC. Quick lesson in definitions...Music is the marriage of melody and rhythm. If it's just spoken words to a beat, with no melody, then it's NOT music. It's only words set to a beat. See? Wasn't that easy? Some country is cool, but mostly classic rock is the way to my heart!
I love everything from The Wizard of Oz to 40 Year Old Virgin. I walk out of every Quentin Tarantino movie I've ever seen, so I no longer bother with his films. (That guy I just don't "get".) Even chick flicks like "Love Actually" is on my list of top favorites. But then again so are "Revenge of the Nerds," "Caddyshack," and "Bachelor Party." I love the classic monster movies too. "Friend...GOOD!"
TV REALLY sucks these days (with the exception of "Family Guy") so I don't waste a lot of time watching people eat roach larvae, or watch has-been celebrities drunkenly swagger their way through one train-wreck after another. I also don't enjoy watching pompous, feminine, British cleft-chin dilweeds cutting down others who are trying to make a better life for themselves. It's just plain evil and mean spirited and I don't need it. Like current music, TV has never been worse than it is now. Where are the Beatles and Gene Roddenberry when you really need them? I much prefer watching old shows on DVD (can you say, no commercials?) In my childhood, I used to watch people who I wanted to someday be. Now, instead of watching people we want to be, we're watching people we're glad we're not. And that's just not good tv. And the TV execs wonder why TV viewership is at an all-time low. Geez. Get a clue! The only exception to this is "Girls Next Door." I watch that show because someday I want to be Hef. I love to watch TV and see people I aspire to be like. That's why GND is terrific.
I read so much everyday as a voice-over artist, that by the time I get home I just don't want to read anything else. I like quickie reading, like magazines, newspapers, etc., but don't have the time, attention span or patience for books. I'd rather come home, get comfortable, and read e-mail.
My childhood hero was Adam West, and now that we're friends I can honestly say that he's even more of a hero to me. Voice-over heroes include Howard Morris and Don Messick. (Google these guys if you don't know who they are). Of course, my parents have always been my greatest heroes.
