Band Members: Just me! I've always enjoyed reading what kind of gear is used by musicians I like, so here's my stuff:
Guitars: Schecter C-1 Hellraiser, Dean ZX, Squier '51, Washburn WG587 (7 string), & a mid-80's Ibanez Roadstar RG410 that I've owned since new. The Schecter is all stock, with an EMG 81/85 pickup set; the Squier & Washburn are also original (though I plan on installing a DiMarzio pickup set in the Washburn). The Dean has a Seymour Duncan Distortion pickup in the bridge position, & the single-pickup Ibanez has been outfitted with an EMG 85. Tunings range from standard to AEAEAE, though right now all are in CGCGE. Strings at the moment are 10-52 D'Addario's. Picks are 1.26mm Claytons.
Bass: Schecter Stiletto Deluxe 5 string, tuned to whatever matches the guitar being used. Picks are Clayton 1.26's, strings are currently DR Hi-Beams. Eventually I'd like a 4 string to make keeping up with the tuning changes easier.
I'm using Line6's RiffTracker for recording to the pc, & it has been a great purchase. I also purchased the "metal" amp pack from Line6's website, & so far, my favorites have been the Bogner Uberschall & Peavey 5150 models.
I'm also an anime fan. I've always loved animation, but really only knew the U.S. stuff until a few years ago. Then I noticed this show on Cartoon Network about some guy in a red robe with long, white hair & dog ears. I knew it was Japanese, but didn't know anything about it, & decided to check it out. I got hooked on InuYasha, & started watching more on CN (Cowboy Bebop, Wolf's Rain, etc, etc, etc). Then I thought, "I wonder if I can find Japanese episodes online that haven't aired in the States yet?" I discovered fansub sites (anime fans who take the time to subtitle the Japanese episodes for free) & the hobby went into overdrive from there. My house is quickly filling up with DVD's as I download (unlicensed!) shows, burn them to disc, then purchase the R1 discs as they become licensed & available in the States.
It's also a lot of fun as my two daughters watch it right alongside me (my wife, not so much). My oldest is also a big manga fan & is buying & reading them constantly. It's a great way as a parent to spend time with your kids enjoying a shared interest.
So, that's pretty much it. If you're interested in hearing more of my music, check out my Soundclick link, & if you're an Otaku, say "hi" if you see me in an anime forum! (I'm mainly on the KAA, AoD, & ANN forums.)
Influences: Edward Van Halen, Dimebag Darrell, Scott Ian, Tommy Victor, Mike Clark, James Hetfield, Ty Tabor, Vernon Reid, George Lynch, Joe Satriani, Les Claypool, Robert Trujillo, Doug Pinnick, Flea, etc, etc, etc.
I wanted to shred at first, but never achieved any real skill in soloing. My love over the years shifted to rhythym guitar, & now it's my primary (if not sole) focus. With my bass playing, I'd love to get slap & pop crazy, but for now I just concentrate on supporting the riff.
Sounds Like: crap!
