About Me

CLICK BELOW TO DOWNLOAD DJ NOORAH'S 'DREAMLIGHT' MIX!DJ Noorah has always loved music more than well, anything else, really, so it was only natural that her love of collecting vinyl turned into DJing and radio presenting, in order to share beats, rhymes & life with others. She started out playing in bars in London and got her first residency DJing at legendary West End record store Deal Real's crowded in-stores in 2003. She went on to become resident at clubs such as Lyric Pad and other open mic events, developing her own crowd-rocking sets as well as playing beats for demanding and whining MCs (she loves them really!!) at MC battles. From then she has gone on to play numerous clubs and bars in London & the UK, including The End, Herbal, Plan B, Medicine, Trap, Rouge, NYT, Opium, Romilly Rooms and many more, as well as clubs abroad in countries such as Egypt (Smoove @ Ministry of Sound, Pacha) Switzerland (Platinum), Greece (Bootycall) and Finland (Ihana, Kerma). In 2005 she started hosting her own drive-time radio show on Mondays at London hip hop station Itch FM 105.1, and since the spring of 2006 she has regurlarly been invited to appear as a guest reviewer on BBC's new black music channel 1Xtra. DJ Noorah's passion for music translates to always wanting to make people have a good time and to dance like theres no tomorrow. Most of the time you will find her spinning hip hop, r'n'b and dancehall, but she also has a vast knowledge of soul, jazz, reggae and soulful house and she just loves switching it up and playing different kinds of sets, whatever is right for the situation in question! Music:

Band Website: itchfm.com SHOW EVERY MONDAY 6-8 PM GMT!!!!
Band Members: It's just me baby!
Influences:Just some of the numerous artists who inspire me, in no particular order, include Stevie Wonder, The Neptunes, Shuggie Otis, De La Soul, Mos Def, Minnie Ripperton, Andre 3000 & Outkast, Dave Kelly, Marvin Gaye, Keaton, Miles Davis, Jay Dilla & Slum Village, Bob Marley, Dre, MAW, Brand Nubian, Missy Elliot, Sizzla, Billie Holiday, Jazzy Jeff, Sean Paul, Kerri Chandler, Mr Thing, Davinche, Red Rat, Beyonce & Destiny's Child, Coldplay, Tupac, Don Corleon, Kanye West, Lil Jon, Fela Kuti, Leroy Hutson, D'Angelo, Q-Tip & A Tribe Called Quest, Tominaga, Notorious BIG, LTJ Bukem, Darkchild, Natacha Atlas, Kelis, Masta Ace, Capleton, Beatles, Timbaland, Arthur Russell, KRS One, Nas, Beenie Man, Premier, Freddie McGregor, Snoop, Doc Brown, Tony Matterhorn, Dwele, Blaze, Lady of Rage, Lee Perry, Lauryn Hill, Jill Scott, Pete Rock, Terry Callier, Show & AG, Pat Metheney, Jay-Z...I could go on and on.I don't rule out any genre of music, anything that sounds good to my ear is cool with me whether it be hip hop, soul, reggae, Arabic, house, drum'n'bass, Indian, rock, classical... anything. If it has a positive message then that's a plus. Equally though, I believe that all aspects of life and the vast range of human emotions - negative ones too - should be explored in music, I don't think a piece of music influenced by a negative subject matter necessarily has a negative message. I am open to new influences. Everything that goes on in my life - from thoughts to weather - inspires me and whatever mood I'm in will influence how I create the journey I will take my listeners on. Spending 5 years in a second-hand record shop (big up the Reckless cru) was at times very inspiring too and I learnt a lot from the older guys in there, in fact a lot of good peeps in my life have put me onto good music (thanks x). I love music and I don't know what I would do without it. Books inspire me too and some of my favourite writers include Andrea Levy and Hanif Kureishi.
Sounds Like: Hopefully when I play it sounds like I put my heart and soul into it. A bit like this.
