Established in the year of George Orwell’s futuristic communist vision, amidst unsettled Thatcherite Britain, Reckless Records became a veritable thoroughfare for such A-List celeb’s as Wesley ‘my nigga wes’ Snipes, Keanu Reeves, Billy Zane, Matt Dillon, Steve Davis, Jamie Oliver, Jade Jagger and Edgar Davids to name but a few!The store quickly became an outlet for rare vinyl across the glorious spectrum we know as music.But it wasn’t just the other side of the counter that was blessed with personalities, Reckless was a starting point for the careers of such musical luminaries as Jonathan Moore (one half of Coldcut), As One aka Kirk Degiorgio (currently producing the soulful folk experience namely The Beauty Room on Peacefrog Records) and Kiss FM dj, the only original member still spinning for the station and the man behind purveyors of quality contemporary Brazilian music Da Lata, Patrick Forge.We have also been lucky enough to employ Simon Lee from Faze Action, Andy Williams from Fuzz Against Junk and Yam Who, Toni Rossano fresh from Strut Records and presently recording-producing-djing as one half of Blackbeard. Reckless staff past and present also include representatives of Funkanala, Here and Now Recordings, Legends of The Underground, Soul Brew, Cyber Soul Music, Hoxton Pimps and Electric Minds. Not forgetting the talented dj-producers Jamal (Metalheadz/Rufige/TOV/Valve Recordings), DJ Noorah (Itch FM), the knowledge Polo Maleone, Jeremy Newell (Wave/Salsoul/Life & Soul/Hoxton Pimps), Spin Doctor (BBE/Soul Brew/Life & Soul), Johnny Reckless (Cyber Soul Music/Soul Brew/Life & Soul/Hoxton Pimps).On the flip-side Aphex Twin dug for ‘nough of his breaks for his early releases in our labyrinth of racks. The Idjut Boys did the same and no doubt founds dubby disco loops galore!Notable events of Reckless folklore include NKOTB Donnie Wahlberg purchasing £800 pounds in one sitting in his heydays of pop stardom.
