About Me

If you are looking for a jock to rip up a main set, keep your hands in the air all night and leave the hairs standing up on the back of your neck as the morning draws in, then you’ve found it in Alan Hartley.Always thinking of himself as a clubber before a DJ, having found his love for house music in '86, it is all about the party for Alan, putting the crowd first and putting his own preferences aside.Since starting his DJing career – late it must be said – at the not so tender age of 28, during 1995 - Alan has spun around the north west of England and beyond securing gigs at many of the region’s biggest glam-house nights.Starting out with a residency at Liverpool’s now infamous G Bar, when it was still in its infancy in 1996, the likes of the Manchester Mardi Gras, Love Junky, Venus, Vain Glorious and Garlands all feature heavily on the Alan Hartley CV.Few can have escaped his dazzling, floor-shaking sets when resident for cool-Cheshire party organisers Ultima and his brief stint in Ibiza did him no harm at all.Inspired by such luminaries as Graeme Park, Jeremy Healy and Alister Whitehead – in their mid-90-s heyday - Alan has constantly made it his mission to bring to clubbers the sort of music and the sort of night that he himself would want to be on the dancefloor for. That said he is never selfish, believing that crowd inspiration and satisfaction should come before musical education every time.Equally happy playing the big girly vocals and all time classics as the upfront shocking sets he can cut up the most spine-tingling a cappella with the best of them and has garnered quite a reputation as master of the cheeky bootleg. And don’t even get me started on the quality of his spine-tingling “Where the hell did he pull that one from?” closing sets.Never one to pre-plan or rehearse a set Alan regularly turns up to play a one-hour set with in excess of 200 records – just to be sure the crowd will like what he plays.Currently resident and co founder at Manchester’s most glamorous funky house night - Twisted Elegance - with his cutting edge fashion style and ever-professional attitude Alan s is always hard to miss both on and off the decks. But when he is on them, and punishing the crowds with the finest funky tunes and forcing them to keep on dancing, believe me you really wouldn’t want to.Twisted Elegance 4th Birthday Video
