Felt good to burn.

About Me

Soundtrack to a nervous existence. However, I try not to take myself too seriously. I like to find truth and beauty in microcosms. I am a good talker, but a good listener too.

My Interests

Playing guitar in my band, Naughty Bird. My blog www.pinkmoan.com. Swirly patterns -- I just can't seem to get enough of 'em. Plus lots of witchy things, good books, nice scents, herbs, hiking in Griffith Park, veganism (I'm not one yet, however), transubstantiation, sacred rites, non-ordinary realities, quantum studies, meaty conversations and LEARNING everyday.

I'd like to meet:

Purveyors of dark psychedelia, extremely smart and slightly feisty types, and almost anyone droll. Folks who get things done. I like to surround myself with bright, positive people. (Please message me before sending an add request if I don't already know you. Thanks!)

Music:

Spacemen 3, Velvet Underground, solo Lou, Cale, Mo and Nico records, the Ponys, Desmond Dekker, M.I.A., Public Enemy, Mickey Avalon, Slumber Party, the Telescopes, Stooges, My Bloody Valentine, the Beatles of course, Syd Barrett, July, the 49th Parallel, 13th Floor Elevators, Black Lips, Black Tambourine, Black Mountain, Henry's Dress, Eno, the Jesus and Mary Chain, Raveonettes, Pink Mountaintops, Teenage Head, Scratch Acid, Television, the Shoes, the Duke Spirit, Patti Smith, Richard Hell, the seemingly endless supply of obscure 60's psych bands that feed my obsession, Can, Faust, Amon Duul II, Cluster, Neu!

Movies:

Performance, Walkabout, The Committee, Century of the Self, Calendar, Belle du Jour, the Graduate, Darling, An Apocalypse Now Redux, Towers Open Fire, Pull My Daisy, Notes on a Scandal, Who Is Harry Nilsson (and Why is Everybody Talking about Him)?, Ichi the Killer, Cure, Juliette of the Spirits, most Lars Von Trier, The Celebration, The Party, Bunny Lake is Missing.

Television:

Documentaries about outlaw biker gangs, the occult, teen thrill killers, ghosts and the Vatican. Notorious, City Confidential, Six Feet Under, Sopranos, L Word (yes it's trashy, campy and I love it), the short-lived Disinformation series, Arrested Development, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. But TV, in general, is an agent of mind control. Be careful people.

Books:

Books on High Weirdness, Castaneda, PKD, Jung, Richard Hell has written some very good books, Please Kill Me, Lester Bangs, Nabokov, Kundera, Shakespeare is my very favorite writer, Emily Dickinson, Patti Smith poetry, ee, Crowley, Burroughs, Erica Jong, Ramond Carver, lots of non-fiction too.

Heroes:

Pete Seeger

Nothing too sordid or earth-shattering, but I have seen a couple of interesting vehicles on the 10 West this week during my morning commute. Tuesday morning I drove behind a faded Chevy Cavalier which...

Sams BBQ, east Austin 10/28/07

The plunk of a small cowbell on the front screen door signaled their arrival at Sam's BBQ. The vibe was rustic, folksy and downright Texan. Cut-out magazine and book pictures of black civil rights and...
