Taking Chase merch.
If you haven't been accosted in the street by people asking 'why don't you have a Taking Chase t-shirt yet you cunt then you obviously haven't left the house today.
If you have been harassed and wish to stop the embarrassment, pop on over to the Wasted State Records Websitel only £8! Nice
Who the, what the?
Good sense would have this part of the page as an 'about' us section and not rants and news as it has been in the past, so here goes!
Wasted State Records grew out of putting on gigs, drinking and playing in and watching bands and has developed into what it is today through; more drinking, great help from great people, support from venues, bands, randoms and other people who know who they are
We don't have a music policy as such, but we are looking for that special something. Being independent basically means no dough, so don't expect to send us a demo and get a spanking big advance cheque in return (as much as we would like to!). The aim for the label is to concentrate on the bands we have at the moment ( Taking Chase and Unknown Hagana ) and progress by making the occasional signing.
Due to how easy it is to start a band and a myspace/bebo/facebook/ adultfriend finder account, we only accept demo submissions through the post. There are a few reasons for this, we're not just trying to be dicks: 1) as mentioned, any band can start a mysoace etc. what we want to see is effort 2) it is easier to keep track of what we have listened to and what we think etc. 3) we are trying to keep traditional media alive (see below). Check out our website to have a look at the shop and for contact details.
Almost a rant, but not really.
One of the things we are trying to do (apart from release great tunes and all that), is to keep traditional media alive. We will of course be using iTunes and what-not, but what we want to do is keep the physical product alive, and look after our bands and our customers too!!
To do this we want to push CDs and vinyl as much as possible so that a) the artists get all the royalties they deserve and b) so that the customer(read FAN) gets a warm fuzzy feeling of holding the CD/vinyl and being able see the notes of who did what and the funky artwork, as well as having something to show for the money they have paid out.
This is a subject that could go on for pages, but neither me or you have the patience to read that much, so I'll just say this. support your local independent, that goes for everything, music, label, bar, band, shop, whore, cabbie, barber everything. If the 'scene' is shit, help out, promote and support but most of all enjoy!
Peace out
