Hargo is a 23 year-old American Sikh singer/songwriter, whose music inspires peace, love, and Rock n Roll. His “past meets present†sound is often described as “The Beatles meets Beck; Coldplay meets Cat Stevens...â€
In March of last year, legendary Beatles’ Record Producer, Phil Spector, produced Hargo’s song “Crying for John Lennonâ€, which will be featured in the upcoming documentary Strawberry Fields: Keeping the Spirit of John Lennon Alive. Spector, mesmerized by Hargo’s talents, told him, “You remind me of a young John Lennon.†In the same year, Hargo worked with famed Rock n Roll glam photographer, Mick Rock (David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust, Queen, The Killers, Gwen Stefani). He has also gained respect from Grammy-winning artist, Seal, and Kate Pierson of The B-52’s.
In 2000, at the age of 15, Hargo opened for Seal in front of 7,000 people, at a festival in New Mexico with Seal remarking to the crowd afterwards, “This young man’s music moves me deeply.†Backstage, Seal asked Hargo for input on a couple of songs that were later released on the Grammy-nominated album, Seal IV. At a private event at the Harvard Club in Manhattan in 2006, Hargo performed with Kate Pierson, of the B-52’s. Later on in the set, Pierson sang backup on Hargo’s “Crying for John Lennon†and told the crowd, “Hargo was an ‘up and coming, talented artist’… now he has emerged!â€
Currently in England to produce and promote his upcoming EP Ritual Habitual, the single “Just the Skyâ€, recorded at Liverpool’s own Parr Street Studios (Parachutes, A Rush of Blood to the Head), is featured at Liverpool Sound City in the UK artists The Singh Twins’ animated short film The Making of Liverpool.
