Hi, I'm BJ Omalley and I am an Old-Timey Country singer/songwriter from Youngstown, OH. I'm also a hairdresser, a scarf and purse maker and a photoshop lover. I am madly in love with my dog Peanut. I write heartbreak songs and drinking songs (about people who drink because their heart is broken.) The songs are honest, often sad, and usually true, just the way Hank Williams Sr. liked to write. I sing them with a powerful soulful voice and with all of the feeling and emotion I can muster. Just like Patsy and Loretta did. My live shows tour the course of emotions that erupt from good love gone bad. Soft sadness, bitter anger, lots of humor, and of course drink drink drink them away! I have warmed up stages for many of my favorites including Hank III, Junior Brown, BR5-49, Kasey Chambers, Neko Case, Robert Earl Keene, and many more! My music is not like the slick, over-produced "pop country" coming out of Nashville these days.I moved to Nashville in February to reclaim Country music back from those supermodel wannabes and plastic Pop producers that have been running the twang show for WAY too long. I plan on kicking Carrie Underwood's butt. I am currently promoting my self released new CD titled "Sweet Baby Freaker". I'm also recording another project! Yea!!! I love recording and I love Mindrocket Studio and Josh Roman rocks! I am working with super freaker Chris Leonardi on the production end of things. He is playing almost everything, too!A little more about me... I am a Freaker (Baffling yet joyous) I am creative! When life gets tough I can take it. I get through heartache and disappointment by retreating from the world and writing songs. I am funny sometimes, smart sometimes, and other times I am the villiage idiot. If I love you I love you completely, probably too much. If you hurt me I am shattered. I hurt people sometimes without wanting to. I disappoint people without understanding why. Some people respect me and look up to me, others hate me. I love music, I write often... I love and hate myspace. I love beauty and I respect hard work. Sounds Like: I sound like me. Singer/songwriter with a powerful twangy voice. Mostly Traditional Country, with a little darker edge at times. Definitely not modern country. I hate that crap. Country Blues? Put me in the alt country genre where we put everyone we aren’t sure what they resemble. Listen to the songs and you decide for yourself then let me know because I never know how to answer that question.
