Ryan Hedgecock

About Me

Southern California born and raised, Ryan Hedgecock spent his formative years in the vibrant Los Angeles roots/punk scene. Starting with his first band Bedrock, a rock-a-billy hybrid band, he started playing at clubs like the Cathy de Grande, a mainstay of the early 80's roots scene. Inspired by the basic raw enery of X and the Blasters, Ryan went on to form Lone Justice(Geffen Record r.i.p. 1981-1986) with Maria McKee. While following their dreams, Ryan watched as Lone Justice become fodder for the giant hype machines of the 80's corporate record business practices. Bent, busted and broke, Ryan left Lone Justice and his home town for NYC. While in NYC, Ryan met singer Amy Allison and formed Parlor James(Discovery/Sire). Re-evaluating his past forays into folk based music, Ryan, together w/ Amy, created a unique sound dubbed as "Acid Appilacian" around their other-worldly vocal blend. Using a combined rich musical heritage and strong songwriting skills, Parlor James became a favorite for NPR stations and college radio. After 10 years in NYC he decieded to return to his hometown. He brought in his old friend from the Lone Justice days, Don Heffington as producer, and together they embarked upon making his most intense and personal record so far, "love, loss and lullabies".He has recently started playing live again after a 8 year hiatus.
