1Man was born and raised in Montreal, QC. At an early age, his father, who was part of a music band in Haiti introduced him to haitian music, latin music and soul. 1Man started focusing on making music at the age of 15, when a knee injury put a stop to his sports aspirations.
Started as a rapper in 1997, and since he couldn't find anyone in Montreal to provide him with instrumentals, he went out on his own to create his own sounds, starting with a Roland MC 505.
In 1999, 1Man met a local Montreal producer, Sonny Black, who showed him the ropes of software producing using Cakewalk Pro Audio; after 2 years of working on his production skills at Sonny Black Studios, 1Man decided to part ways with Sonny Black and start his own production career.
2 years later, while putting his rapping career on hold,
1Man started working with his cousin PhD from FP Crew, local Montreal rap group, 1Man produced 4 songs of their first album - Expos, including critically acclaimed 'Soundclash'.
Since then, 1Man has been working non-stop
He's currently hard at work on projects with local Montreal artists:
