Ottawa born mc DEXTER DARWIN aka mc U.N.M has spent his whole life in and around hip hop culture. Whether it was with graffiti in the early 90,s or working in the studio by the age of 15
with now acclaimed producer TEK TWELVE. he has always tried to develop and innovate as an artist . He is from the school of real hip hop a true lover of beats rhyme and life and feels he has the goods to prove it .with over a dozen years invested a steady work ethic and loads of talent he has made a name for himself in numerous Canadian cities tearing up many open mic nights, co hosting radio shows on C.I.B.L.mtl C.K.C.U.ott. C.H.U.O.ott. C.K.U.T.mtl.
He now resides in Montreal and has been a resident there for 8 years. associating himself with the elite there. such as producer: RAY RAY , rapper BLESS, dj and producer: DJ MANIFEST and also producer: PARAFINO etc…
Professionally, Dexter has been doing shows since the age of 16, opening for groups such as THE ROOTS , SAUKRATEES, CHOCLAIR, BOOT CAMP, MATHEMATIKS, DJ A-TRAK. DJ JAZZY JEFF, ROB BASS, KARDINAL OFFICIALL in various venues around Ottawa between the years of 1995 to 1999. Latter moving on to Montreal in 2000 where a chance encounter would bring him to meet Montreal mc BLESS. witch latter on would give birth to the collective known as PLATINUMBERG in 2003 he released the full length l.p titled: Platinumberg ‘’the movement’’ alongside his crew composed of BLESS, T.F.S, and DJ KWITE SANE. along side some of hip hops most respected names such as GANG STARR, AFU-RA , the PERVERTED MONKS , and MR. WIGGLES (from the legendary ROCKSTEADY CREW) witch eventually led to tours across Canada with such groups as: GANG STARR , BEATNUTS, LLOYD BANKS and OBIE TRICE and opening for NON FICTION, DE LA SOUL, MAESTRO FRESH WES.
During that time he also licensed the song ‘’SEIZE THE DAY’’ for the video game’’ DEF JAM VENDETTA FIGHT FOR N.Y’’ witch sold THREE MILLION copies world wide. In 2005 he appeared on the highly anticipated album THE BOOK OF BLESS again being showcased along side of hip hop big wigs such as : TONY TOUCH, RAH DIGGAH, JR WRITER, CAPPADONNA and PLANET ASIA. This was proof he could definitely hold his own and had the skills to compete with the elite. Dexter is currently in the studio starting work on his first solo L.P. with featurings such as:
