With awareness steadily growing surrounding his music, H.D. finally drops Almost Famous: The Mixtape, hosted by Donnell Rawlings aka Ashy Larry (“Chappelle’s Show,†NY’s Power 105.1 Morning Show) and DJ Vlad (Rap Phenomenon Series).Whether analyzing the city’s landscape (“Metroâ€), getting metaphorical (“Fame,†“The Draftâ€), exploring discipline (“Last Strawâ€) or straight boasting (“Steroidsâ€), the mixed CD offers a wide range of themes. The effort picks up where its predecessor, Now Or Never, left off- forward thinking lyricism, torrential flows, addictive hooks and banging production. While DJ Vlad is once again on board for hosting duties, DJ Manifest is on the mix while Ashy Larry brings a comedic aspect to the mixtape. Almost Famous also features a guest appearance by Zakee of Pitch Black and production by Hi-Tek (50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, Talib Kweli).“Since Now or Never, a lot of people have been asking me when I’m dropping my next mixtape,†H.D. shared. “The feedback on it was so great that I wanted make sure its follow-up was worthy. I explored several situations and took my time to make sure I can at least match, Now or Never. I’m confident that I’ve surpassed it.â€To coincide with the launch of the mixtape, H.D.TV, H’s web television show, will be premiering “Behind The Grind,†a mini-series chronicling the making of the mixtape. The four-part series sees the emcee paying visits to rappers, executives and industry insiders, including The Game, Diddy, Jim Jones, Fat Joe, Killer Mike, Mr. Collipark and Amanda Diva among others, to get a pulse on today’s rap industry. It also chronicles the mixtape of Almost Famous. To date, the Queens transplant has appeared on mixtapes from DJ Vlad, Big Mike, P Cutta, DJ Exclusive and DJ Dennis Blaze, among others. In addition to working with the aforementioned artists, H has opened for underground staples like Immortal Technique, the Last Emperor and Boot Camp Click.“Behind The Grind†premieres on SOHH.com December 6th and Almost Famous drops the same day on www.hdotmusic.com and www.myspace.com/hdottt
