My Interests

martial arts, yoga, writing, performance, spirituality/new age shit, film . . . in general, creative and artistic things. i like activities that engage my senses, excite my spirit, or simply challenge me to venture outside the proverbial box. i also read tarot, dabble with feng shui, and do professional mehndi (henna).

Music:

amy kuney, alanis morissette, coldplay, fiona apple, caroline's spine, goo goo dolls, bjork, portishead, sigur ros, ani difranco, michael buble, dashboard confessional, deathcab for cutie, damien rice, pink, christina aguilera, dj tiesto, madonna ... I've got diverse tastes.

Movies:

i love film and my tastes are diverse. Some favorites: Kill Bill, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Hero, The Last Unicorn, Gladiator, Girl Interrupted, Playing by Heart, Almost Famous, Bonnie and Clyde, Amelie, Gia ... and a lot more, but these are the DVDs i own. i'll only purchase a DVD if i know i'll want to watch it at least a handful of times.

Television:

i don't watch TV; i live in a cave. i was a xena and hercules dork back in the 90s -- i think that was the height of my TV watching. really well-rounded, huh? and so cool!

Books:

I'm an English major who doesn't really read. Shame on me. I like short fiction and creative nonfiction, also actually some of the stuff universities include in the literary canon. Some writers I enjoy (AKA books i own that weren't required to get a degree): Paul McComas, David Sedaris, Kurt Vonnegut. I also like humor, quotations, art, "self-help," and "... for dummies."

Heroes:

my parents. Angelina Jolie! i admire people with integrity, intelligence, courage, and talent. i have an appreciation for the iconoclastic and irreverent. i don't cry when people die, or break up, or live in horrible conditions, but i am a sucker for those who grieve, move on, and rise above their shortcomings; courage makes me cry.

i graduated bartending school with flying colors cuz i studied my ass off like the nerdy little asian academic i am. that, or i am just really competitve...so now i am looking for bartending job...
