just drop the pretension, hang the drama at the door and be real. i think it's too much to ask of anyone to always be independent and self-sufficient, and, by virtue of the same token, it's too much to ask of everyone else to always need a hand. the fact is, we're all here and different because we're all differently equipped to help ourselves and one another, and that's the nature of love and friendship. it's been mentioned that i have a knack for seeing through a lot of the bullshit with which people attempt to screen themselves and break down situations to the simplest means. couple that with the fact i've actually lived my life, made a ton of mistakes and learned from them, i manage to give some pretty awesome advice, if i may say so myself...on the flip side, i have difficulty at times properly advising myself, and thus need an ear, which goes back to what i said about the network of friends we develop helping each other out.

i FINALLY finished chris rice's "the snow garden", and lemme tell ya, it's ef-in fanTAStic! i couldn't recommend it more! i had the good fortune to meet the hothotHOT mr. rice, under somewhat unfortunate circumstances. here's the poop - i stopped by the abbey for a post-work martini, and bumped into a friend who asked me if i was going to the rally. being the ignorant ass that i am, i asked, "duh, what rally?" as it turned out, in like, half an hour, there was going to be a rally just a block away to protest the recent (at the time) rash of gay bashings in west hollywood. so i sucked down my martini and went over to lend my support. unbeknownst to me, christopher is a resident of weho, and was there to donate like tens of thousands of dollars to the standing reward should anyone come forward with any information leading toward the capture and prosecution of the asshole gay bashers. so i spoke briefly with him afterward. he was kind, gracious, humble and intelligent. oh, and did i mention HOT? yeah, and he's also politically active, creative, talented and rich...and, of course, i was completely slathered from the martini, so i'm sure was like fuckin drunk girl from SNL..."hey, chrssufer, yyyy'know WHUT? y'know WHUT? you're like HAWT. an i LUV yer mom'z books...she's GOOD. an y'know WHUT? yer HAWT." meh. wouldn't ya know it.currently, i'm reading "tales of the city" by armistaud maupin and just got "clay's way" by blair mastbaum, "lunar park" by bret easton ellis (one of my favorite writers) and *fanfare! fanfare!* "light before day" by christopher rice, so i'm gonna be busy throughout the holiday season! YAY!
