Exquisite Poise is Characteristic of Finished Character!

About Me

Long story short, I've been working hard all of my life. I began as a classical ballet dancer (and good at it too)and progressed into a multi-disciplined dancer(Dance Theatre of Harlem Scholarship Recipient, The (Judith)Jamison Project, Michigan Ballet Theatre, Donald Byrd's "Harlem Nutcracker," La Manufacture Dance Collective (Aurillac, France). After a short period of "burn-out," I decided to go on hiatus from dance and devote my studies to radio and t.v. broadcasting...that "hiatus" only lasted one semester at Howard University. On a fluke I auditioned for a musical, got the gig and ultimately changed my major to Musical Theatre. I enjoyed an interesting time in the P.A. Dept. now, being able to multi-task (act/sing/dance simultaneously). I loved it! I learned how to do things I had dreamed of and knew I was capable of doing. While at Howard, I had the benefit of participating in many brilliantly staged mainstage events, but the most successful of all as a "newbie" to the discipline was landing my first professional show at The Kennedy Center with Debbie Allen. That show officiated my union membership. Post graduation, I enjoyed an "eye-opening" (and short) stint in L.A., but found that it made more sense to take advantage of the connections I had on the eastcoast. So, I made the NY move. Since the move,I've worked mostly regionally (Damn Yankees, Dreamgirls, Crowns) as well as Off-B'way (365 PLAYS/365 DAYS @ The Public Theater,River Deep: A Tribute to Tina Turner,Broadway Soul,Diss Diss-Diss Dat, Damn Yankees, Black Footnotes),generally (Golf:The Musical,Free Fall, ABK for Life, and a bit of t.v. (Law and Order: "FAME"/ Law and Order: Criminal Intent: "Privilege" / Law and Order SVU: "CHOREOGRAPHED"). Can't say that I necessarily want to solely be a theatre actress, but it's definitely a microcosm of all the things I believe I can achieve. ***Phil 4:13, guys!
