-Inspiration-When rap first exploded in the mid-eighties, Mr. Cliffnote was just beginning his quest to become a well known lyricist. As a youth, he was introduced to hip hop by his father playing Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five The Message. That day would leave an indelible mark on the development of this young artist. He initially focused on developing his visual artistic talents. As a youngster, he won numerous art contests. And as an adult, Cliffnote has compiled designs for artist such as Slum Village, and D12 as well as had his artwork displayed in the Detroit Institute of Arts.-A Lyricist is born-During his youth, as member of the Shadow Nation, Cliffnote realized the essence of developing his lyrical talent by "battling" local artists at the Hip Hop Shop. In 1997, after graduating, he began to perform with another group Double A (which stands for Above All) where he would come into his own style.Battle for respectCliffnote's resolve continues to be tested. In the struggle to notoriety, his tenacity was exemplified during a trip to New York to battle other emcees for a contract with Rocafella. Although the battle was canceled, Cliffnote was relentless to make the trip fruitful. He sought out other opportunities to showcase his talent and found himself negotiating his way into studios of BET's 106 and Park for an opportunity to audition for "Freestyle Friday". Although he was not present for the initial selection process, Cliffnote made his way onto the stage by getting the producers attention and proving himself as a quick witted lyricist. As a result, he was invited back to appear on an episode of "Freestyle Friday".-What's next?-Like most poets, inspiration is the key ingredient for creativity. The unique quality of Mr. Cliffnote is that he is able to conjoin his visual and vocal art skills and continues to strengthen both.
