Ivari is a pop/rock brother sister duo from Chicago. Formed in the summer of 2001, they have recorded 2 indie discs, played numerous shows at Midwestern colleges including Drake University, Judson College, and a show at Depaul University opening for Chicago legends, Local H. They have also played shows at Uncommon Ground, the Arcada Theater, the Metro, Elbo Room, and several other venues in the Chicago area. Catching the attention of Jeff Buckley's mom at a tribute held annually in Chicago, they are now featured artists in the Peyote Radio Theater at jeffbuckley.com. Their song "Rose-Colored Glasses" can be purchased on iTunes as part of a project supporting Coffee Kids (www.coffeekids.org), a charity that works to improve the lives of children in impoverished, coffee-growing nations. Their music is also for sale through burnlounge (www.burnlounge.com/tunes4u). In addition, their song, "On An Island" has garnered the attention of Infa-Red Inc, and will be coming out on their indie compilation later this year. "On An Island" was selected for honorable mention in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition, and is one of their signature tracks. Ivari also was a runner-up in the Independent Music World Series, and continues to write and perform. They are working on material for a new album and hope to record a demo for the project early this summer. Their music is heartfelt and genuine, akin to singer/songwriters such as Sheryl Crow, Aimee Mann, Sarah McLauchlin, and Duncan Shiek, while throwing in a few rock licks that hearken to U2, with a touch of Oasis and a bit of Everything but the Girl thrown in for good measure. Ivari is more focused on writing solid, meaningful songs, as opposed to solidly identifying with a specific genre, but Emily's unique voice and Andy's inspired guitar work hold the Ivari sound together.Myspace Layouts
