Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have

About Me

I'm a man of many roles and skill sets, but they don't define me -- I am on this planet to inspire, equip, empower and prosper anyone my path crosses to break through their barriers and create the life they dream of.
For years I tried to fit in other folks categorizations of me: a geek, techy type, a preacher, a graphic designer, a consultant--but I conclude today that I defy categorization. I simply glorify God with every gift He's given me. Do you know what the best gift is?
The one that you need, when you need it!
I work with government executives, ceos, entrepreneurs, recording artists, models, actors, event promoters and church leaders to help them discover new and better ways to communicate their mission and achieve their personal and professional goals.
I am founder and partner in a dynamic gathering of business leaders from North Carolina to Chicago. We are currently collaborating on a phenomenal project to serve up some amazing motivational and personal development tools to our communities.
Whenever I get a chance I am coaching, speaking, and consulting on emerging media technology, change, creativity, spiritual growth and personal manifestation.I love the creative process, and have launched into a number of projects, including a spoken word/poetry recording, a songwriting demo, motivational audio/video and a seminar series/book draft. Look for sneak peeks right here on MySpace!See more about my coaching, speaking and writing at: kevinjohnson.org

I'm fascinated with achievers and their paths to fulfilling their callings--no matter what the venue or discipline.
I'm also a part of the LinkedIn networking site:

Music:

My fav for IDOL is the amazing Belinda Doolittle--she's got the goods this year. She's part Jennifer Holiday, part Stephanie Mills and a whole lotta big voice.Otherwise, Lizz Wright, Corinne Bailey Rae, Raul Midon, Old School R&B joints, The Roots (saw them live last summer--OMG!!!) Jill Scott, and so many others influence me.Gospel music? Not so inspiring at this point...it sounds all alike to me now....maybe I'm jaded? Hmmmm...

Movies:

The Secret: First 20 minutes

..
This is the first 20 minutes of the global film phenomenon "The Secret". It is authorized by The Secret LLC for personal use only. Please enjoy this gift! The Pursuit of Happyness! Thomas Crown Affair (the original and the remake), Usual Suspects, The Italian Job, The Matrix Trilogy, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Incredibles, just about anything by Speilburg, Spike Lee or Jerry Bruckheimer, Amistad, The Goonies, Malibu's Most Wanted (don't be hay-in), Braveheart...."Freeeeeeeeedooooooooooom!", Spanglish, V for Vendetta, Bad Boys I & II, Schindler's List, Rudy, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, I'm Gon Git You Sucka! The Wiz (especially the "I'm a Lion" song) All of the old Pink Panther movies--I can't stop laughing! Of course, Hitch!

Television:

TV is the opiate of the masses. I barely watch TV, mainly from a conviction that I'd rather live my life out loud than vicariously through a LCD/Plasma screen. Kinda like watching golf--or a marathon--on TV...um...it's nothing like the smell of freshly cut grass and the frustration of smacking a little white dimpled ball around for 4 hours. No benchwarming for me. Put me in the Game!!!

Books:

The Bible, Think and Grow Rich, The Magic of Thinking Big, The Portable Coach, The Art of Intimacy, How to Win Friends & Influence People, Now, Discover Your Strengths, As a Man Thinketh, The Heavenly Life, Chasing Daylight, The Greatest Salesman in The World. Ordering Your Private World. The Goal. Khalil Gibran's The Prophet, The Science of Getting Rich anything by Orison Swett Marden, Oswald Chambers or Dale Carnegie. I'm always reading something. at least 4 books per month. my kids don't get allowances for doing chores...they get paid for how many books they read and report to me on. ;-)

Heroes:

Jesus Christ is my greatest hero--for his vision, his passion, his tenacity, his compassion and his loving leadership. As a historic figure, he outshines everyone. My late adoptive mom, Mary Dumas Johnson, and my unknown biological parents who had the guts to let me live and put me up for adoption. Whether I find you or not, I love you.
