About Me

Director of Photography. (Music Videos, Commercials, VFX, Documentaries, Shorts).As an army brat, I spent many years in Germany where I was involved in the Goth/Industrial scene in the eighties and nineties. I became influenced by the German Expressionist Films of the twenties (The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Nosferatu) as well as Bauhaus modernist architecture. My earliest 16mm films were inspired by these silent films.As a Director of Photography I've shot music videos for The Eagles of Death Metal, High On Fire, Tomahawk, Eyes Of Fire, Exodus, and Six Feet Under.I've also worked in Motion Picture Post Production at Company 3 (www.company3.com) as Lead Digital Intermediate Film Scanner. Feature work includes "WATCHMEN", "Pirates of the Carribean 2 & 3", "Transformers", "Underworld 2", "Domino", and "Mission Impossible 3" My credits are listed on www.imdb.com under Ian Turpen.
