The MySpace page for the unofficial Creation Records website 'Doing It For The Kids'. Putting into words everything Creation achieved during it's 17 years is impossible, but one things for certain... the label released some of the greatest recordings of the late 20th Century. Artists included My Bloody Valentine, Primal Scream, Teenage Fanclub, Jesus & Mary Chain, Ride, Oasis, Slowdive, House of Love, Jasmine Minks, Ed Ball, Boo Radleys, Super Furry Animals, The Telecopes & Slowdive. From a small indie in 1983 it became one of the most successful labels of the mid 1990's following the success of '(What's The Story) Morning Glory?' which remains the 2nd most successful album ever in the UK, beaten only by The Beatles 'Sgt Peppers'. For many the peak period of Creation was between 1988 and 1992 when the label seemed unstoppable in discovering new talent and releasing groundbreaking records. In October 1991 the label released 'Screamadelica' by Primal Scream, 'Loveless' by My Bloody Valentine and 'Bandwagonesque' by Teenage Fanclub, it's the stuff other labels can only ever dream about. Following the success of Oasis, things were never the same. In 1999 the label folded, Dick Green now runs the hugely successful Witchita label who have given us such wonderful bands as Bloc Party, Simian Mobile Disco, Peter, Bjorn & John and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah amongst it's long list of popular bands. The 'Doing It For The Kids' website was launched in 2000 following the closure of the offical website by Sony. You can visit the website at www.creation-records.com.
