My Interests

I'd like to meet:

People who are hesitantly excited about Sweeney Todd.

Music:

According to my iTunes, I like to listen to: The Unlovables, Britney Spears ('Toxic' so suck it), Superchunk, Get Up Kids, Motion City Soundtrack, Alkaline Trio, Death Cab, Prince, Hot Hot Heat, The Constantines, Fugazi, a whole lot of Sondheim, particulary Sweeney and Company, Sleater-Kinney, the Kung-Fu Monkeys, Ted Leo/Pharmacists, The Mountain Goats, The Decemberists, one song from the Wicked OBCR, The Shout Out Louds, MC Chris, The Streets, The Jam, Fountains of Wayne, Arcade Fire (I actually don't really like them, but this is 2006 and it's the law) the Jam, GBV, the Ramones, a lot of Bowie (not me, although I like my songs a lot), The Shins, the Kinks, Danger Doom, Outkast, X, Kanye, The Hold fucking Steady, Jean Grae, the Replacements, the Hold Steady, Dead Kennedys (did you see that photo? HOLY SHIT!) Bob Mould and all Bob Mould byproducts, Ben Folds, the Beatles, Johnny Cash and podcasts with Elvis Mitchell.

Movies:

Animal House, Seven Samurai, Election, Almost Famous, Squid & the Whale, Drunken Master 2, any and all Zombie movies, Amelie, M*A*S*H, Ed Wood, Pulp Fiction (oh, fuck it, all Tarantino, I'm not a hater), Lebowski (you know what, all the Coen's too, even Hudsucker), Godfather, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Rock & Roll High School, Rashomon, The Big Sleep, Good Fellas, Rear Window, any movie where Jet Li has a shaved head, Broadcast News (oh, how could I forget, I fucking love that movie. "What do you do when all your dreams come true?" "KEEP IT TO YOURSELF."), Annie Hall, Heathers, Hannah & Her Sisters, Swingers, Lost in Translation. The short list of films that are not great but that I will drop everything to watch on Cable: Starship Troopers, Full Metal Jacket, Taps, From Dusk 'Til Dawn, Wild Things. Yes, you counted two "cinema de Denise Richards" in there.

Television:

Mad Men and 30 Rock. That's it. If your show isn't set in an office in midtown manhattan, your show can suck my dick.

Books:

Surfing Armageddon by George Tabb. I love George. Other titles: Gatsby, Kavalier & Klay (and all the Escapist comics), The Long Goodbye, Easy Riders & Raging Bulls, John Adams by McCulloch, Please Kill Me, The Floating Opera, Cuckoo's Nest, Frankenstein, the Commitments, Tale of Two Cities, MAUS, The Chosen, The Autobiography of Malcolm X (a little too contrived, putting those two next to each other? trying too hard? maybe, but they're near each other on my shelf) anything by George Saunders, Sarah Vowell, Jonathan Lethem, Spalding Gray, Jim Carroll, David Rakoff, David Sedaris, Harriet the Spy . . .oh and so much more. I like reading.

Heroes:

Teachers, firemen and Tupac.
