Sin City is a State Of Mind...

About Me

************************************************************ ************************* ******* UPDATE - MAY 2007 ******* Born and raised in LA by artists and musicians - I guess that's why I love to be surrounded by created people. I'm proud to say that I've been earning a living in the music business for 20+ years. I spent 15 of those years in the "record business" but had to leave and start focusing on establishing a career in the "music business". Some people assume that I'm just a country rock chick, but I gotta tell ya, MAMA likes to shake a tailfeather! Don't get me wrong, I love a good sensitive singer/songwriter but it better be damn good! I don't have time for whiney, pretentious self righteous types. I started Sin City 6 or so years ago and my how we've grown. In addition to producing shows in LA and the surrounding areas, we've producing annual events in Nashville and Austin for the past 5 years! We're now getting ready to really expand to Austin one of my favorite cities in the world! I'll be based there and commuting to LA - it's all pretty amazing. Sin City Social Club now has a 30 min. audio series produced by In Flight Entertainment! If you're flyin' the friendly skies on Continental, Singapore or Copa Airlines tune into the "country channel" and listen for Bryson and I - we're bringin' you the "best of the west" - It's an ongoing series and in each segment we talk about the importance of California artists and influence in country music! We play our favorite tunes from classic heritage artists such as Buck Owens and Merle Haggard to contemporary hero's like Dwight & Lucinda and then we take a little time to turn people on to artists coming from the current thriving community on the West Coast. I've also started tackling some bigger events...this year I booked the Main Stage for the 34th Annual Topanga Days Festival. Quite a thrill for a girl who grew up in Topanga Canyon. I have a bird named Rocka Billie and a car named "The Midnight Rider" - I was the flower girl in Dicky Betts wedding as a kid so I had to pay respects to my southern roots (even if it was "southern california"! A lot of people know me as "Mama Shi" and most people say I'm the most "southern girl not from the south" that they know. I guess that's because I'm a firm believer in "hospitality" - In addition to turning people onto music...this Mama loves to cook, sing, shop for funky treasures and throw a good party. By the way, if there were only ONE place for me to shop on the entire planet it would be WWW.GYPSYVILLE.COM - owned and operated by a wonderful family of women known as THE JUNK GYPSIES! With any luck at all I'll be figuring out a way to work with them soon. As an only child, my friends are my chosen family - thankfully I have a pretty big family. Although straight...(yep, just ask anyone - I'm a fan of the man! ) I have a lot of "wives" who my life would be just miserable without! You know who you are. Nothing like the love and support from your best girlfriends - especially when you're single! I've done a lot of amazing things in my life ... If I were to die tomorrow, I would have NO REGRETS. That's good livin'! ************************************************************ **************************Shows I produce or co produce in Los Angeles: We strive to bring the best in Roots, Country Rock, Singer/songwriters, Blues and good ol fashioned Rock n Roll from local and national artists to the best clubs in and around LA!Look for regular Sin City shows at THE MINT in Los Angeles. The Mint is located at 6010 Pico Blvd. (@ Crescent Heights). www.themintla.com Shows are usually $12 - but there are exceptions! Keep current... get on our email lists! We also work closely with Pappy & Harriet's, The Hotel Cafe and Safari Sams,...and love our friends at other clubs in the community including: The Echo, Silverlake Lounge, The Derby, The Cinema Bar, The Viper Room and The Cat Club. I would highly recommend that you check out some of our friends who put on amazing shows such as THE GRAND OL ECHO held on Sunday evenings at The Echo in Echo Park. Some of you may know us from our LONG RUNNINIG MONTHLY OUTLAW COUNTRY night at MOLLY MALONE's - SWEETHEARTs Of THE RODEO! September 2000 - October 2006 - Yep...6 years of outlaws, friends, liqour, laughter, bar fights, abusive banter from Bryson and the home of the best god damned musicians we know! If you were there then you KNOW! THE SIN CITY ALL STARS still play from time to time so quit your cryin'... We're just not doing it monthly anymore!Along with the regular shows we put on in Los Angeles, Sin City is officially expanding into Austin in June of 2007! We've been hosting annual events there for 5 years and I just can't get enough of that town so keep your eyes and ears open. We'll be planning some great parties & shows over the next few months so make sure you're on our email lists! We usually invade Nashville during the AMA Conference - this year it takes place Oct. 31st - Nov. 3rd. We hope to see you there. In case you were wonderin' - that was US that put together the GP Tribute shows in LA with Keith Richards, Lucinda, Dwight etc. There is a DVD available that's called "RETURN TO SIN CITY; A TRIBUTE TO GRAM PARSONS". Go buy it. $$ goes to a good cause - The Musicians Assistance Program - a fund thru MusiCares to help artists who are seeking recovery from alcohol and/or drugs regardless of their financial situation. We also had the amazing experience of bringing a lot of our crew to London for a Gram Tribute in 2003! Hope to bring more music overseas in the future! Favorite Radio shows: Listen every Sunday to Chris Morris' Watusi Rodeo on Indie 103.1 here in Los Angeles. If you're not in town then you can listen on the web. www.indie1031.fm When I'm not listening to Indie, I'm usually listening to the OUTLAW COUNTRY channel on Sirius or bootliquor.com streaming on iTunes. We also produce Sin City Social Club sampler CD's 2x/year. You can pick them up at any offical Sin City event, or thru one of our many affiliates such as No Depression Magazine! You can get a copy of Vol. 8 with a new subscription in the May/June Issue. See magazine for details!Last but not least - visit our official website and sign up to be a member of the Sin City Social Club by subscribing to our email list (www.sincitysocialclub.com ) maybe you'll win tickets or other groovy things that we give away from time to time! www.sincitysocialclub.com*********************************** *************************************************
