what i got was, an opportunity to do something else ... the cow goes: MOO!

About Me

. ..
lover of life: people, places, food, wine, beer, fire, water, earth, air, autumn, falling leaves, leather coats, boots, rakes, cabbage, big pots of stew, bonfires, new friends, beautiful souls, cameras, digital, analog, film, music; all music almost; chocolate, producing good works, reading, wearing, viewing listening to good works, sleeping late, getting up early, staying up passed your bedtime, playing, cooking, tasting, laughing, thinking. txtmsgs: rain on a tin roof, your voice in my ear, cat in the hat, man on the moon, the power to remain peaceful; punctuation, i like to use ellipsis ... standard, automatic, did i mention your eyes, as we all have heard, are the windows to your soul. open up your eyes, take a look around...

*./ then there is light ...*
'magic' light that stops for a few minutes at dusk to turn everything gold; that elusive blinding light, on a hot summer night, which reveals the drenched frame of the world & the underbelly of storm clouds, candlelight from across a room revealing the subtle tones of a few locks of hair and silhouette a cheeky grin; the light that comes only when you blow out that candle and close your eyes to sleep; dawn..

don't be tricked, french is not a lanuage i know, although i'd love to learn - what do i speak? well, a rhineland pfalz dialect of german & a wee bit of spanish - did study and respect the power of latin (it isn't really dead) and of course appreciate the english languages with all of its nuance and variation.

My Interests

language interests me, with all its languages. most people can be interesting to watch but not to talk to. the bank interests me while my credit card charges me interest. interesting things occupy people's time, sometimes there are things that seem uninteresting, or boring, but those things actually do interest someone, somewhere.
again, i know i mentioned light already.. but seriously, light is fascinating.

Music:

Etymology: Middle English musik, from Old French musique, from Latin musica, from Greek mousikE any art presided over by the Muses, especially music, from feminine of mousikos of the Muses, from Mousa Muse in my life, music is a must. from the symphony to a dive, follow the muse for there is a music for every ear

so, there are some bands i really like, that you may care to check out: first and foremost: patty hurst shifter - they are on myspace, or you can dot com their name
others include, but are not limited to: caitlin cary, tres chicas, the cartridge family, the olympic ass kickin' team, the lie, snatches of pink, the faces, gov't mule, public enemy, beasite boys, n.w.a., led zeppelin (if you haven't heard of them, go play in traffic!), traffic, okay, i'll stop ... this could go on ad nauseum. you get the drift - i like the rock, the roll, the old style hip-hop and a tiny bit of the new, the indy rock, the alt country - i love music, and most of it. it is good for the soul!

Movies:

mov·ie Pronunciation: 'mü-vE Function: noun Etymology: moving picture 1 : MOTION PICTURE 2 plural : a showing of a motion picture 3 plural : the motion-picture medium or industry

coen brothers especially, films of historical film making significance, films that let you think - one of my all time favorites stars bud cort..

can you name which movie this quote is from?
"And shepherds we shall be, for thee my lord for thee. Power hath decended forth from thy hand so our feet may swiftly carry out thy command. And we shall flow a river forth to thee and teeming with souls shall it ever be. In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti."

Television:

crap!

but, YouTube is pretty cool:
..

Books:

i read books, what about it? hardback books, leather bound books, paperback books, library books, school books, i've read the good book ... it wasnt that good, but it wasnt that bad either. i have a book without words in it; i draw in it, and sometimes write. prior to her departure to los angeles, a friend left me with a box of books - one at a time, i will send them home.
"... This above all: to thine own self be true, and it must follow, as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man." - Hamlet; act I, scene iii
"Three of the four elements are shared by all creatures, but fire was a gift to humans alone. Smoking cigarettes is as intimate as we can become with fire without immediate excrutiation. Every smoker is an embodiment of Prometheus, stealing fire from the gods and bringing it on back home. We smoke to capture the power of the sun, to pacify Hell, to identify with the primordial spark, to feed on the marrow of the volcano. It's not the tobacco we're after but the fire. When we smoke, we are performing a version of the fire dance, a ritual as ancient as lightening." - Tom Robbins, Still Life With Woodpecker.

Heroes:

anyone with the courage to follow their heart, soul, convictions, beliefs ...
radicals, protestors, those who use their VOICE, wherever it may take them.

anton corbijn is my photographic hero

other than them, heros are pretty much done for now that superman is dead.
