About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas’ Myspace Editor V3.6 !
I Cleopatra of Egypt am one of the most well known of all the ancient egyptian queens. I ruled Egypt by the name, Queen Thea Philopator. I was born in Alexandria in 69 B.C. during the reign of my descendant Ptolemy VII. Cleopatra appears to have been a popular name in my family, as my mother bore the name as well as my older sister. I am the seventh Cleopatra of the royal house of Ptolomy, the Queen, the Lady of the Two Lands. My family was not from egyptian origin, but rather we were Macedonian, descended through a general of Alexander the Great. I would become the first ruler of my family who could actually speak the Egyptian language. My history is one that has been the subject of novels and movies and is filled with deception, intrigue and romance. My historical biography suggests I obtained the throne of Egypt through some rather violent means. When my father was briefly exiled following a rebellion, my older sister took the throne. Following his return and reclaim of the throne, my sister was put to death. My next older sister whom carried the same name, Cleopatra VI, died around the same time as well; although the cause remains a mystery to historians today. This left me, Cleopatra the Seventh as the oldest child in my family, with a brother who was several years younger. About four years later, my father died and I Cleopatra took control of the throne. I was only about 17 years old at the time.In keeping with ancient Egyptian tradition, I Queen Cleopatra of Egypt married my then 12 year old brother, PtolemyXII. The marriage was not truly legitimate, however and considering the young age of my new husband and co-inheritor of the throne, I Cleopatra ruled Egypt independently and as I wished. This lasted for only three short years before I received the same fate as my father and was exiled, along with another younger sister. I then married my 15 year old brother, PtolemyXIII and remained to rule Egypt. I escaped to Syria, however but did not intend to give up without a fight.I am mother to Ptolemy Caesar, Alexander Helios, Cleopatra Selene, and Ptolemy Philadelphos. The events that soon followed are quite legendary. My brother, Ptolemy, became involved with a bitter war between Julius Caesar, and a former friend, Pompey. Ptolemy took sides with Caesar and had Pompey killed, hoping to curry favor with the Roman leader. The plan backfired on him. Julius Caesar was so enraged by the murder of Pompey; he immediately took control of the Egyptian palace and ordered us, Queen Cleopatra of Egypt and Ptolemy to present themselves to him. I had been encamped just on the other side of the Egyptian and Syrian border. When I received the news that I was to enter Egypt and report to Caesar, I astutely realized that I would be easy prey for supporters of my brother's regime. In a scene that has been replayed in countless movies, I allowed myself to be smuggled into Egypt in a rug. The affair between I and Caesar began when I was presented to him, wrapped in the rug. Of course he was smitten by my beauty, and we remained lovers for more than 3 years. The affair was scandalous, but resulted in the birth of my son Caesarion. I joined Julius Caesar in Rome, but I quickly departed when he was killed, fearing for our lives. Absolute chaos ensued in the Roman Empire following the assassination of Caesar. One of the three men poised to take the throne of Rome, Markus Antonius ordered me back to Rome for questioning. Once again displaying my political savvy and intelligence, I Queen Cleopatra of Egypt made plans to seduce Mark Anthony. I donned the garb of Venus, the Goddess of Love and was completely successful in my attempt to seduce him. He showered me with the gift of many territories. Our death was the story of many a love novel, and some say with the help of an Asp we left this earth together, to meet again in the next life. We are together presently and have been married and in love for more than 30 years. Rumors remain in time, but behold the truth will be revealed at the end of days!
