-Down in New Orleans a new sound sustains the party through the rolling depths of the evening, often setting with the rising of the Sun. From soulful jazz expressions to second-line fusion, from dirty drum 'n' bass breaks to festering swells of swerving bass, the source remains Gravity A. Taking their name from the force responsible for the cohesion and semblance of all subatomic matter (as opposed to Newton's well known gravity b), the band acts as the force responsible for inciting dance with the rhythms and frequencies of polar vibrations. Though heavily influenced by the positivity and progression of electronic stylings, Gravity A chiefly grounds the sound in live instrumentation to weave their sonic tapestry, with the occasional lucid sample surfacing beneath ambient currents. Sweltering below sea-level, the moods of a typical show flow from creation to revelation, improvising impressions of a collective movement.
Since 2005, Gravity A has appeared with many excellent musicians, both local and nationally touring acts. Within the electronica/jam scene, the band has opened for acts such as Pnuma Trio, EOTO (String Cheese Incident sideproject), Girl Talk, Orchard Lounge, Breakage (UK), Marcus Intalex (UK), and Freaky Flow. Gravity A has also appeared on stage with Mike Dillon of Les Claypool's Frog Brigade, Dr.Fameus (Allen Aucoin of the Disco Biscuits), Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, Elemental Harmonics, local drumming legend Johnny Vidacovich, and local saxophone legend Tim Green.
