eNeRGy D (Energy D) has been reinvented. Founding members Ryan Nall and Nate Smith have generated an entirely new sound in the past few weeks to be debuted in Memphis at the Hi Tone Wednesday August 13th, 2008, when opening for their friends from New Orleans, Gravity A. The duo's new project incorporates elements of world music, electronic noises, natural sounds, and funky soulful psycedelic grooves. The result: a drum & bass experience that both dazzles the ear and shakes the booty. Energy D has been torn down and rebuilt, and is entering a new phase of developmenty in 08/09. Nall and Smith are excited to share the latest incarnation of Energy D with audiences, and be on the lookout for new song posts!Energy D began as a four-piece Jazz/Jam/Rock band based in Memphis, TN. Founding members Ryan Nall, Nate Smith, Gaines Fricke, and Daniel Heacock released their first self-titled, all-original self-produced and recorded album (available at cdbaby.com) in the fall of 2007 and had been touring the Southeast spreading their distinct sound. Recently the band has shifted into a more electronic-uptempo phase characterized by their new songs Shibuya, Pocket Full of Danger, Amber Sun, and Dug (to be released in as an EP).Having shared the stage with nationally renowned acts such as Animal Liberation Orchestra, Dubconscious, Chicago Afrobeat Project, Sub- ID, Gravity A, The Dynamites & Charles Walker, Speakeasy, Pnuma Trio and the Greyboy Allstars; Energy D is now seeking to broaden their touring radius and burn-up some new dancefloors as a drum and bass duo. Energy D is an amalgam of sounds which is constantly recreated through improvisations and live performances. Energy D is an experience in itself, not easily described in words.
