Linguistifunk IS coming your way! Fresh, new, and original... straight from the Big Easy. Formed in March 2008, we have played throughout the city and aim to provide some great music to other cities in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Brazil. Short personal biographies:Roy McGrath- Born in San Juan Puerto Rico, Roy moved to New Orleans in order to assimilate the city's unique vibe and feel regarding genres such as funk and jazz. Jazz being his main influence, Roy brings a different vocabulary and harmonic approach to the table regarding composing.Nicholas Soderstrom De Faria Lima- Born in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, then relocated to Stockholm, Sweden, Nich moved to the DC area in the United States in mid childhood. He pursues perfection through musical development as a language and lifestyle, armed with extensive knowledge, experience, and training in styles such as funk, contemporary jazz and bop, go-go and hip-hop, reggae and a variety of latin beats. Nich is fluent in both electric and acoustic bass, playing gigs around New Orleans in various stylistically contrasting musical ensembles.Andres Monserrate - Also from Puerto Rico, Andres' drum feel is key element to the development of the band. Andres is a versatile drummer, his experience playing afrolatin beats are a key element to the band's unique funky fusion sound. Andres is the funkier of the group, keeping a keen eye on the roots of funk and keeping the band from straying too far from their original sound.John Marcey - Native of Louisiana, John grew up around New Orleans playing at well known clubs such as the Spotted Cat and various on Bourbon Street. His bluesy guitar playing native of the New Orleans' music keeps the band connected to its home influences.
