The Appletree Mortuary Academy

About Me

I am the fly. Corpse-hands. Mary Vicar, skeleton maker. Dolls and puppets, too. A couple of kooks. Call me rabbit fighter. Making bands based on dead neighbors. Playing *with* instruments, and not exactly playing them very well. A waxwork Abbess and two wooden bees. Changing my identity when I'm bored. I like dressing up like a boy dressed as a girl. Wig fetish. Rock geek. Collector of the odd and random. The Appletree Mortuary Academy. The creator of forty-three hundred half baked ideas and countless fully baked weird quarks. I feed the birds and sing off key. I make a swell pumpkin pie. My home made pierogies kick ass. No really, they totally do. I like fun as often as possible... drinks with friends, picnics in the cemetery, live music, good jukeboxes etc and so on and so fourth. I like flowers and forest animals. This is the kind of stuff I make...

My Interests

I'm interested in men that wear hats well. I'm also interested in the peculiarities of religion and mourning rituals. Songs in waltz-time. Mandolins, fiddles, harpsichords, banjos, accordions and the people who play them. Theremins and the mastering thereof. MicroKORG! I'm interested in many things, generally speaking.

I'd like to meet:

Not potential dates. Seriously. Just friends. Chances are I have more in common with your socially awkward, cross-dressing little brother than you... unless of course, you ARE that little brother. In that case we'd have a lot to shoot the shit about. I'm all about making some new friends. I like people... a lot. Andy Partridge and Ray Davies would be neat. More friends in Pittsburgh. Pleasant people with a sense of humor and have good taste in music who like to go to rock and roll shows and go picking through dusty old record bins. You know... people like that. People that would like to work on a marionette puppet film with me. Anyone who would like to work on a bizarre musical/film project. Artists who actually produce artwork. You know... creatives, musicans, good people with good ideas.

Music:

Really obsessed with Sparks right now. They're making my head pop in the best way. Some favorites are: Legandary Pink Dots, Edward Ka-spel, Syd Barrett, Siouxsie and the Banshees, THE KINKS, Pogues, Zappa, Mekons, The Left Banke, THE CURE, Skip Spence, Captain Beefheart, the Velvet Underground, THE CRAMPS, the GUN CLUB, early Genesis, Donovan, The Raincoats, T REX, The Vibrators, Radio Birdman, Wire, XTC, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Mr. Leonard Cohen, GUIDED BY VOICES, Magazine, Small Faces, Sun Dial, The Seeds, SILVER APPLES, the Pretty Things, The Damned, The Zombies, Jethro Tull, Pere Ubu, BOWIE, Iggy Pop, ROLLING STONES, Eno, Love and Rockets, Patsy Cline, The Birthday Party, The Smiths, The Groupies, Blue Cheer, Bauhaus, 999, Electric Frankenstein, the Fall, Joy Division, DEVO, Beck, The Stranglers, Belle and Sebastian, ERIC BURDON and the Animals, Bob Dylan, Handsome Family, Sixteen Horsepower, Ye Olde Royal Shithouse Players, The Flying People, Canine 10, SEEING EYEBALLS, Black Tie Revue, Adamo Drive and so on and so forth...

Movies:

Documentaries. The Graduate. Full Metal Jacket. Ghost World. Clash of the Titans. Harold and Maude. Rushmore. Lolita. Pee Wee's Big Adventure. Head. Metropolis. All things Bela Lugosi. Emmit Otters Jugband Christmas. Triplets of Bellville... many many many others.
