music written and performed by Ginger and The Wildhearts!
If anyone has a pic of themselves with a Wildhearts band member, past or present, send it in and it will be displayed shortly. The Sonic Circus began to come together in the latter half of 2005. Originally, the majority of them worked as session musicians on Gingers acclaimed solo album, Valor del Corazon. They did not play together as a band until just a few days before Gingers sell-out London show at the Highbury Garage on January 27th, 2006. Those who were there can testify what a fantastic night that was, and it truly was the start of something special. The line-up for that first gig was; Ginger (lead vocals, guitar), Random Jon Poole (bass, backing vocals), Jase Edwards (guitar, backing vocals), Luis Soiero (keyboards, percussion), Steve Spring (drums), Ralph (saxophone), Rachael Jones (backing vocals) and Sammy Andrews (backing vocals). Conny Bloom (ex-Electric Boys and Silver Ginger 5, currently with Hanoi Rocks) made a guest appearance for the second half of the set. The show far exceeded even Gingers expectations, with the crowd lapping it up and taking over lead vocal duties for The Man Who Cheated Death, causing the man himself to have a tear in his eye as the devotion of his fans became evident. Ginger promised we would soon see more from the band, and he kept his wordMarch saw the first set of dates under the name Ginger and the Sonic Circus, albeit with a revised line-up. Rachael Jones and Sammy Andrews were replaced on backing vocals by the ultra-talented ViX (ex-Fuzzbox) and Tanisjah, and Conny Bloom became a permanent feature of the band. Seven superb dates later and Ginger was off to New York for another two dates with Jon Poole, Jase Edwards and Joel Loper (drummer for the studio album) before heading back to the studio over the summer. The band were then offered the headlining slot for the Gibson stage at Fridays Download festival, which they gladly accepted. By the time they reached this date, the band had evolved yet again to now include eleven members with the addition of the Psycho Cyborgs, who had toured with them in March. So whats next for the Sonic Circus? Well, Gingers new solo album is recorded, and we should be hearing more on that front shortly. Next on the list to be recorded is the debut Sonic Circus album, and Japanese fans will no doubt be delighted to hear that the band will be playing three dates in Japan in early October. The futures bright, the futures Ginger!
