About Me

Everyone can always tell that I'm an only child. I guess that says something, but hey! That's me. I'm also told I'm loud...I'll agree. I absolutely LOVE music! All sorts! Funk, reggae, jazz, blues, rock n' roll, conscious rap, folk, country, and even some trip-hop once in a while....we all have our sugar music too...you know, that stuff you listen to, if only to remember good times (with bad music), and in about ten years will never admit to having heard (ie. The Spice Girls, and punk from eighth grade year...get what I mean?) I love to write! I feel like a sugared up 13 year old right now, with my best girl, Isabelle, who is reading this as I type and giggling (as princesses are wont to do) so don't judge my writing on this. Maybe I'll post some of my stuff later. I took a political personality quiz in AP Gov, and apparently I'm left of Gandhi and the Dalai Lama socially, and below Mandela economically. Don't think I'm a "hard-core liberal" or whatever....I'm just reasonably intelligent. Well, now that I've ticked off about half of the Stafford Co. population, I'm gonna jet. Take care Everyone! ...... I took this...found it on Dini's myspace. I'm going to post it, just for fun.

My Interests

Making music, listening to music, reading good books, writing, sitting on my big behind...like right now, anthropology/sociology...it's so fascinating to see how we're all connected, and how we're all different, trying to push our country (and world) FORWARD....as in trying to get rid of racism, homophobia, xenophobia, unnecessary economic inequality, war, hunger, HIV/AIDS, and all the rest of that stuff that makes our world worse than it needs to be. I really think that if we all just gave enough of a damn about oneanother, we would be a lot better off. I'm interested in cuddling, exploring cities, warm walks in green places, good food...cooking it, eating it, and sharing it with other people, dancing, spending time with my friends, and meeting new ones. Oh, and I'm also interested in you!

I'd like to meet:

All sorts of people! Fun people! Sweet people! Sincere people! Inellectual people! Extroverts! Introverts! Men, women, and everyone in between! I love people, so check me out. MSN me at [email protected] AIM me at cmet88 if you don't have msn, that is...msn is better.

Music:

I need my funk, jazz, reggae, blues, folk, motown, soul, rock n' roll, country, swing, conscious rap, techno, trip-hop, 90's sugar music, 90's hip hop, doo-wop, be-bop, old rap (as in The Sugar Hill Gang), and world. If it's good, I'll listen to it. To quote the O'Jays, "I love music, any kind of music. I love music, just as long as it's groovy."

Movies:

Monsieur Ibrahim, Catfish in Blackbean Soup, Crash, Love Actually, La Femme Nikita, The Russians Are Coming, My Best Friend's Wedding, The Mouse That Roared, Some Like It Hot, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, Duplex, Run Lola Run, and all things Tyler Perry (except the plays made into movies...the filmed plays themselves are hilarious!)

Television:

Turner Classic Movies. Law and Order. Desperate Housewives. Grey's Anatomy. All things Logo!

Books:

Their Eyes Were Watching God, The Moor's Last Sigh, The Power of One, Eleven Minutes, The Alchemist, Life of Pi, The Secret Life of Bees, The Handmaid's Tale, Oryx and Crake, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Manchild in the Promised Land, Alice in Wonderland, Stones from the River, The Bluest Eye, The Tao of Pooh, and others I can't bring to mind right now.

Heroes:

I think continually of those who were truly great. Who, from the womb, remembered the soul’s history Through corridors of light where the hours are suns Endless and singing. Whose lovely ambition Was all that their lips still touched with fire, Should tell of the Spirit clothed from head to foot in song. And who hoarded from the Spring branches The desires falling across their bodies like blossoms. What is precious is never great to forget The essential delight of the blood drawn from ageless springs Breaking through rocks in worlds before our earth. Never to deny its pleasure in the morning simple light Nor its grave evening demand for love. Never to allow gradually the traffic to smother With noise and fog the flowering of the spirit.Near the snow, near the sun, in the highest fields See how these names are feted by the waving grass And by the streamers of white cloud And whispers of wind in the listening sky. The names of those who in their lives fought for life Who wore at their hearts the fire’s center. Born of the sun they traveled a short while towards the sun, And left the vivid air signed with their honor.-Stephen Spender
