Debutalbum "Doors, keys" out now!

About Me

Order "Doors. Keys." HERE.
REVIEWS
"Every note, every theme and every pause seems well thought-through. At the same time, this music is difficult to listen to in an analythic, distant way, and it..s hard not to be engaged by it. It sounds organic, natural of tree and strings and the band stands out as a gathered collective that breathes together." - Jazznytt
"The band suprises you all the time, makes you curious about what will happen around the next corner. A good start for a debutant." - Dagsavisen
"An album debut in an acoustic chamber jazz landscape. An original addition to Norwegian improvisation music." - Dagbladet
"Splashgirl is a collective with a huge potential which is going to be very interesting to follow." - TV2
"The overall is impressing, we especially notice the very excellent pianist and composer Andreas Løwe." - Avisa Nordland

1) Splashgirl is formed by a group of young norwegian musicians. The band has since the beginning in 2004 done concerts around Norway and nothern-Europe and released their debutalbum, DOORS. KEYS. in March 2007.
”Doors. Keys.” follows up and develops further a fusion of contemporary acoustic jazz and chambermusic known from musicians as Christian Wallumrød, Trygve Seim and Paul Bley, and takes it further with references to alternative rockbands like Mogwai and Sigur Rós as well as 20th century composers like Eric Satie, Steve Reich and Morton Feldman.
Andreas Løwe composes most of the music and has developed a playingstyle that mostly consists of single tones, allowing a lot of space for the bass and drums, and other instruments that might appear in this unusual pianotrio.
Jo Berger Myhre has written the opening and closing tracks that frames a record also including contributions by swedish saxplayer Joel Wästberg, polish violinist Sebastian Gruchôt and norwegian bassclarinetplayer Lars Kurverud.
2) In May 2008, Splashgirl begun to record their 2nd album, which shows a slightly change of style. Still acoustic, the music takes a more minimalistic and defined collective approach where the use of long, sustained sounds binds together a broad palette of string- and percussion-instruments.
Release TBA.
