About Me

Andy Fraser, FREE's legendary bass-player/writer and founding member, completes transition to singer/songwriter - a musician who brings his love of blues, rock, african world music and soul to this latest contemporary music. In his new album "Naked... and finally free", Andy conveys a rare honesty as he shares his darkest moments, and the inspiration which leads him into understanding and upliftment, his passionate vocals weaving through rolling grooves with guest appearances by some of todays top musicians. ------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------------------------------- HE'S BACK AND HE'S FREE One of the most important musicians in one of the most important bands of the 1970’s is back.Legendary FREE bassist and songwriter of one of rock’s all-time anthems “All Right Now,” Andy Fraser breaks a decade-long since with “Naked…And Finally Free,” an album that could’ve only been by a man who has  been through a lifetime of setbacks in the past several years. He has suffered from AIDS, cancer, painful neck surgery and crushing depression along with the struggle to accept his sexuality. Throughout it all, the only constants for him have been music and love; forces that imbue “Naked…And Finally Free” with a rare spiritual power – to inspire, to uplift, and to heal.  On the album’s single and lead-off track “Healing Hands,” in particular, you hear the same artist that worked with Paul Rodgers and Paul Kossoff to give the world FREE’s iconic “All Right Now” coming to grips with forces beyond his control and affirming what truly matters in life.Anyone who has ever been in a similar situation or yearned for something more from contemporary music will be moved by the fearless honesty and courage it took Fraser to write such a song. Pressed to explain how he was able to achieve such an artistic achievement, Fraser is both telling and oracular: “Only the best things are done in love.”  Rather than a “comeback album,” Fraser describes “Naked…And Finally Free” as a “coming out” album: “coming out” of the shadows after a near decade-long silence, “coming out” about his sexuality and “coming out” with the unvarnished truth about himself and his place in the universe. In terms of style, the album combines Fraser’s hard-rocking roots with Blues and African music – elements that bring Fraser to another level musically while not forgetting the past or what brought him to this moment as both a man and an artist.
