(break and tech-funk)DJ JIM_STAR, aka Hazard, was born in a little town called Chicoutimi (Quebec, Canada) in 1977. At the age of 12 he had his first contact with techno music: the front 242 Front by Front album. From then it became an addiction! In the early 90s Jim_Star and friend Jean-Luc began to compose with tracker Programs. some techy-strange things where at the time recorded on tape and distributed for free to anyone asking. Then around 93 Jim started his solo project, HAZARD, under the name of which he released many untitled tapes and 2 albums : "vfx" and "Jim_Star"(where his actual name first appeared). In 95 one of his tape came to the ears of "CLUB PLAYGROUND" manager one of Montreal's biggest afterhour club at the time... it opened the door to his DJ career: he was invited to perform at the Playground's "FLIGHT" special event. From there he was booked in many parties and clubs gaining in popularity around his home town and getting to play in Quebec and Montreal from time to time. He also launched his first event in 95 in Jonquiere where he was studying art in "college de Jonquiere"... this first attempt was a total crash! Then with time he gained in experience and soon became one of the first rave promoters in his area. Involved in event productions with nowhere (1998 to 2000), lunatic (2000 to 2002), exosphere (2002) jim star founded alice management in April 2005. this amazing artist management & event production adventure started as a way of getting local saguenay area djs to a higher level then by the magic of the internet and the hard work of jim this little local agency growed into a global dj agency active around the world and managing successful artists. The Jim_Star sound is quite unique as he like to blend many (if not all) styles into one eclectic roller coaster sound to capture crowd in a wave of energy and emotions. In the past Jim_Star has played anything from jazzy house and chilly trance to hardcore techno and drum n bass. Those days he plays a mixture of progressive house, progressive psy-trance, techno, electro-house, tech funk and breaks. Jim also likes to mix up tracks that are from different times mixing for an example a 1992 Joey Beltram track in the middle of some not yet released promos. Jim_Star's out of town trips gave him the chance to DJ near great talents such as Preach, Tsuyoshi Suzuki, Marco G, Alex Axx Koss, Manu le malin, Sid Shanti, Nigel Richards, Dino Psaras, Kevin Energy, Christian Smith, Nic B and Lori the hifi Princess to name a few. www.alicemanagement.com
