About Me

Proclamed by many as "Montreal's best kept secret" french Canadian DJ Max Hebert started his musical journey as a young vinyl junkie at the age of 14, constantly squatting Montreal’s record shops for rare collectibles and diversified stlyles of music such as Funk, Hip-Hop and Breakbeats. One day, all this searching led him to the infamous DNA records, where Max carefully got introduced to electronic music and its multiple branches. From there, in the early 1990s, he was now working as a promoter with Channel Productions, one of Montreal's first large promotional companies. Channel Productions were responsible for producing major and innovative events featuring live acts such as Daft Punk and Chemical Brothers to name a few. They also hosted nights at Montreal's legendary and first after-hours club PLAYGROUND. During the mid-1990s, when the electronic music scene was now bursting in Montreal, timing was once again perfect as Max started playing regularly in Montreal's underground circuit, DJing at various local events and loft parties in and around the city.
In 1994, Max joined the famed 514 Productions team, promoting weekly nights at SONA and many other quality events in Montreal's largest venues, including Cream, Swirl, Celebration, Chocolate Factory, Colors and many others. This position gave him his first shot at a gig, in 1995 at SONA in the Breaks room. He then subsequently travelled to promote different events in various North American cities on the East Coast, including New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Toronto, Ottawa and Quebec City.
Max's solid background and keen experience in the Funky Breaks genre dominated his style in the 1990's, but today his musical style has evolved to, a groovy Chicago House sound infused with funky rithyms and Basslines spiced up with Tech-House infuences. His versatility as a turntablist and DJ are always apparent in his carefully programmed sets: "My philosophy is to bring people together, be interactive, and mentally fuse with the crowd and understand their demands on the dance floor. "When I play music, it's not about me - it's about the crowd. And every crowd is unique and different."
Co-founder and resident DJ @ the now infamous MOVE events presented at one of North America’s most prestigious venues STEREO Night Club, where he also is currently working as head promoter since 2002, under his own promotional company Soul Science Productions, he continually is expanding his musical horizons, holding down successful residencies such as MOVE and AFTER-8 at STEREO, in Montreal. Gaining more and more attention, he gets invited regularly to play at the best venues on the Canadian East Coast. In 2005 he got his first invitation to play over-seas, playing major events and festivals around the UK, all this with out a single release ou there to this day, strictly based on his unique DJ skills and way of creating a vibe in the rooms he plays, witch is pretty rare now of days. After studying and obtaning a college degree in music production recently, time has now come to get some original tracks and Rmx's on the market and reach this much awaited artistic level of professionalism of his.
Max has played alongside many internationally-renowned and much respected artists, such as Mark Farina, DJ Heather, Fred Everything, John Howard, Miss Honey Dijon, Raoul Belmans, Hector Romero, Onionz, Joeski, Jay Tripwire, Miguel Graca, Roy Davis Junior, David Morales, John Acquaviva, Victor Calderone, Martin Solveig, Chris Liebing, Thomas Krome, Nigel Richards, Robert De La Gauthier, Chris Liberator, Randall Jones, Paranoid Jack and many others …
