"Cooler, azaz Jakab András, ez a húszaséveinek elején járó debreceni fiatalember hamar feltunt finomelektró-hangszonyegeivel. Nagyszeru sampling-technika, néhol retrósanalóg effektek, néhol recsegos tört ritmusok jellemzik munkáit,de mindegyikben közös a finom emelkedettség és a remekarányok." / A38, Chi Faculty 4. "Do Aliens Cry? is Jakab’s debut album and is likened to a fusionof Funckarma, Bauri, Luisine ICL and Loess by U-Cover themselves;high praise indeed. What Jakab delivers is a smooth and evolving mixof rhythms and melodies that constantly but subtly mutates. Oftenbassy and rhythmic, his music is not minimalistic or ambient andappears to draw on a diverse range of musical influences. The endresult is a unique musical style that it is hard to tire of; infact, Jakab’s style is so varied and original he could easily playfor an extended period of time and still be captivating. Take thetitle track for example; it seamlessly shifts from crunchy grindingbass through a short ambient interlude and back to the formertotally naturally. Jakab’s use of fairly up-front bassy rhythmsdiverts from the myriad of subtle sounds, melodies and texturesdiscreetly underpinning each track as it progresses. It is not untilthis side of his music comes to the fore, as it does during thequieter phase of “Do Aliens Cry?,†that its presence andcontribution really becomes evident. In complete contrast, the nexttrack - “Pavement Picnic†- starts out some super-cool 70’s funky TVcop show theme before diverting towards slick beats and highlymanipulated vocals but always hinting a little at its retrointroduction. Vocoder vocals are also used on the album opener,“Sorrowful-Go-Round†which is a bassy but altogether more restrainedand moody piece, as the title might suggest. Only in the closingminute or so does the mood lift and become bright and moreinsistent. A strong debut from Jakab." /Igloo Magazine review: Cooler - Do Aliens Cry? (U-Cover,Belgium) /
"You can also catch up with Hungary's newfound producer, Cooler'sdebute on this vinyl. He usually goes deep into ambient, whilebubbling and wobbling around freaky textures. 'Shapes in Fog' willcarefully massage your nerves, while diving even deeper and deeper."/Chi Recordings/
