In 17 years, and at 32 years of age, Alex Martin cannot look back on more than 45 million record sales worldwide. He has not notched up 4 U.S No.10 singles, 9 U.K No.1 singles and 2 No.1 albums.
He has not played at any of the biggest and most important concerts in history, or in front of millions watching around the globe.
No he has not been voted “sexiest man on earth“ and there are no groupies waiting at the back door to grab his pants… And for god sake there is nothing between him and Demi Moore (there never will be!) and last but not least he never had outstanding success, anywhere, anytime, in any way.

Alex was born on 10.03.75 in a lonely town in western Germany, son of a Cypriot/British father & of a German/Polish mother. It took another 5 years until his little brother Michael came into the world - not only a brother but also a musical soulmate
It was clear that they would stick together through anything, and in 1999 with their shared musical/blood bond, they formed a rock band which included 3 others. After playing with a few different musicians they finally found the right chemistry. The name “Catnap“ was chosen and a strong, powerful sounding young rock band was born.
Who could guess what would happen next?
A band needs a leader right? yep a band needs a leader. Who was the oldest, had the money, the strength to push the band to 1 and who would sell his last pair of pants for the band? Alex. Without realizing, Alex had become the bands leader. It was a progression in the natural order of things but the signs were very clear. For Alex there is only one way and that way is up. Good gigs, good songs, an independent album “High & Alive“ and an official single “The Sound Of Speed“ – for the „PORSCHE Cayman S webtrailer were to follow.
After 6 years of hard work Alex realized that he was the only one who wanted to get paid for music, he wanted success and he wanted to show the world what he was feeling while singing. “I don’t want millions, just a few pounds to buy some new shoes, and I know I have to work for money, that..s nature, I have to work for good music, if it is professional.”
Early in 2007 Catnap got a record-deal, yes a fucking record deal! but a record contract means: recording an album, working hard, time management, discipline, losing friends and going through all of this together as a band - good & bad times. Alex and Michael were the only ones prepared for this so at this point the other band members decided to quit.
7 months of recording on their own have made them stronger and wiser - “The good thing about the last few years is what the highs and lows have taught us. Through it all it’s your passion and love for what you are doing that keeps you going”
