These guys are out every night.
The Drugstore Cowgirls are a power trio--Dirty Little Pedro (Pedro Shanahan) on bass and vocals, Destin Clover- guitar and vocals, and Keith Roenke on drums and occasional keyboards. Born from the fertile L.A. open-mike circuit, The Drugstore Cowgirls blend the experimental ambience of Radiohead with the sand-between-your-toes realness of Sublime into a refreshingly straight-ahead rock and roll sound all their own.
The Drugstore Cowgirls have used DIY tactics- playing a year-long residency at Canter’s Kibitz Room in Hollywood, self-releasing their debut CD ‘Fine Wine and Spirits,’ and passing out flyers at other bands' shows, to build an impressive following.
Currently on rotation on KXLU 88.9 FM and Indie 103.1 FM, The Drugstore Cowgirls are making their mark on the airwaves as well. Two of their songs can be heard on the Fuel Network, 'Marching Orders' and 'Go Where the Love Flows.'
The Drugstore Cowgirls continue to contribute to the flourishing L.A. Music Scene, playing headlining slots at Spaceland, Star Shoes, the Knitting Factory, and the Viper Room among others. They have opened for nationally touring acts such as Phantom Planet, On The Speakers, The Vacation, The Rondo Brothers, and showcased on the LEVI's and FADER magazine stage at the SouthBySouthWest2005 Music Festival in Austin, Texas. They are currently working on songs for their second full-length CD, and recording with producer Mike Elizondo (Eminem, 50-cent, Fiona Apple, Dave Mathews, etc.)
