About Me

Ask around.

Some people know Isaac as the mildly amusing, wildly popular host of Open Mic at Lestat's Coffeehouse in Normal Heights. Some people know Isaac as the mildly handsome, wildly rugged former host of Open Mic at Hot Java Cafe in Carmel Mountain Ranch. And some others still remember the olden days when Isaac was the mildly pleasant, wildly youthful host of Open Mic at Mikey's Coffeehouse in the wilds of Poway. Chances are, if you've played an open mic in San Diego in the past 10 years, you've probably seen Isaac.

When Isaac isn't hosting Open Mics, he plays guitar mildly and sings songs wildly. Sometimes he plays solo and sometimes in his band, She Blonde Swede.

Isaac has performed all over the world, most notably, Poway and Greenland.

Someday he will record an album and let you buy it.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Um...there's me, Isaac. And...that's about it.
Influences:

This is the part where I talk about all the music I like, huh? This could take a while.

Well, it all starts with The Beatles. And ends with Crowded House.

Basically, if pop music were a church, the Holy Trinity for me would be: Paul McCartney, Neil Finn, and John Lennon.

And I love Brit Pop. Give me The Smiths, Blur, and Oasis. And some Radiohead, Coldplay, and Travis.

U2, naturally. And Elvis. Both Presley and Costello.

My new favorite band is The Decemberists.

But who could forget about Fountains of Wayne, REM, The Jayhawks, Guided By Voices, Weezer, Candy Butchers, or New Order.

And I love, love, love Barenaked Ladies. The band's pretty good too. I could go on and on.

Sounds Like: A rhinoceros in heat. Or teen spirit.

They Play Too! is This Friday at Hot Java Cafe!

I know it doesn't seem possible, but the life of an open mic host is not nearly as glamorous as it would seem. My colleagues and I toil weekly in near anonymity as the guy (or gal) who makes sure the ...

I'm hosting Java Jams on CTN all this week at 8:30pm

What are you doing tonight at 8:30pm? If you're not at my open mic at Lestat's, then you should be at home on the couch watching the telly. No, not Heroes. County Television Network to be exact. It's ...

I am a Media Whore

I've always been able to stay under the radar. I've preferred to toil in anonymity. But this week, I've been quite the media whore. I hosted Java Jams's TV coverage of the Game at Cosmos on Sunday. Yo...
