Gwendolyn Garver - Acting Reel
For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to act.Growing up in a small midwestern town, I took "Summer School" drama classes and participated in Oddessy of the Mind (OM). All through middle and high school I was a member of the Forensics (Speech) team. I received top honors, accumulated a shelf full of trophies for my team, and placed 3rd and 5th in the state my Junior and Senior year. I was also one of the team captains my senior year. The summer before my senior year of high school, I participated in my hometown's community theatre for the first time. I played CHAVA in "Fiddler on the Roof".Less than three months later, I was cast as “Ado Annie Carnes†in my High School Concert Choir’s Presentation of “OKLAHOMA!â€I moved to the Big Apple in October of 2000 where I spent the next 2 years attending the American Musical and Dramatic Academy.Upon completing the two-year Studio program at AMDA in February of ..02, and a few months off, I left for London, England where I studied film for 10 months.A teacher at AMDA once said that every good director should have some experience acting. I feel the same is true for actors.I wanted to understand what happens on a film set and what it's like to be in the Director's shoes. I came home with a better understanding of the film world, and I like to think my acting has improved because of it.While attending film school, I met director, Douglas Elford-Argent, who was working as a TA at the time. We fell in love and when I moved back to NY in August of 2003, our relationshiop wasn't phased. We got engaged in October of 2003 and Doug moved to LA. I left NY and joined Doug in Hollywood in January of 2004.On June 13, 2004, we got married. We have since made 3 movies together as a team, once of which was funded and shot entirely in my hometown of Waupaca, WI.I am still living in LA and doing my best to "make-it."--GG
