About Me

I believe it was the Prince of Darkness who said “Rock & Roll is my Religion and my Love”. Well, I couldn’t agree more, Mr. Osbourne. This moment in time of my musical journey finds me releasing my new album “Lonely Boneyard” on my own Independent record label Eclectic Evolution Records ©. After years of “unofficially” writing, recording and releasing music, I decided to let go of my ego and enlist the help of friends and fellow musicians to create “Lonely Boneyard”; 11 passionate songs about Girls & Gods, right from my heart.Raised Irish-Catholic, just north of Boston, MA. USA. I’ve had a passion for music for as long as I can remember. I quickly realized that I could be quite happy by simply listening to music. I would sit for hours and listen to records (yes, vinyl albums) by The Beatles, The Kinks, The Cars and Led Zeppelin. I was around 10 years old when I begged my parents to buy me a guitar. And so they did. I was immediately fascinated with the concept of creating something from nothing. I would spend hours in my bedroom writing songs and recording them on a boom box. Since then I have pretty much compulsively written and recorded songs on my own ever since. At the same time as spending my free time writing my own material, I doubled as a singer/guitarist for hire and played music with anyone and everyone I could in and around the Boston area, playing with some of Boston’s best musicians. I’ve played in more bands than I can remember (and some I don’t want to). I’m going to confess that I’ve played somewhere in the territory of 300 weddings in my musical journey. It’s always been important to me to be active as a musician, in any way possible, and to challenge myself on guitar, vocals and performance. However recently, I have turned my focus back to recording and releasing my own music (and music I dig) on my Independent Label ‘Eclectic Evolution Records’.With so many songs piled up over the years, I figured it was time to put them out into the world, and see them fully realized. Lonely Boneyard is a compilation of 11 of those tracks I wrote over a span of almost 10 years, ranging from sugar-sweet pop to trip-rock and everything in between. Songs like “Empty” and “Nameless 71” are songs that showcase my passion for atmosphere and psychedelic ear candy, while songs like “Proud” and “Under Two” focus on my love for pure rock & roll and straight forward Pop songs. So stay tuned for the release of Lonely Boneyard due in July of 2008 and I hope you enjoy my music.Do what you will but harm none. Peace.-Joe Long
