Hey, I am Tanya! I am a co-founder of Agape Animal Rescue. Agape is a non-profit, 501c3 dog and cat rescue. To sum things up--Agape is my life and rescue is what I do.
I have four personal dogs, one cat, and a rabbit. I started rescuing after finding a litter of puppies in a ditch. Mack, one of my personal dogs, was the runt of this litter. Mack stole my heart and started my love and passion for rescuing animals instantly. Now, Mack is a certified therapy dog and helping people every chance he gets! After finding homes for Mack's brothers and sisters I started searching for a rescue group to work with. After working with many different groups I found Chris and the formation of Agape began.
My other personal rescued animals include a shih tzu, Kelsey, who was dumped at a vet’s office after two little kids cut her throat with scissors. Kelsey came home with me one weekend to get out of the kennel for a couple days and I never took her back! Bert is a black lab mix who was severely abused and decided one day that I needed to be his forever mom. Minnie is a min pin that I fostered for a while. After she tested positive for cancer I decided to adopt her. Her and Kelsey are my two little old ladies now! Gracie Ann is a tortishell cat, who was wondering around a church parking lot when she was 6 weeks old. Gracie Ann tested positive for feline leukemia and I just could not let her go. She is currently doing wonderful at 3 years old! The last of my animals is a rabbit named Bonnie. She was bred for target practice. Bonnie decided she needed to be part of my crew instead of the alternative.
I am dedicated to saving the lives of dogs and cats in need one life at a time.

Before I was a Dog Mom:
I made and ate hot meals unmolested.
I had unstained, unfurred clothes.
I had quiet conversations on the phone,
even if the doorbell rang.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I slept as late as I wanted
And never worried about how late I got to bed
or if I could get into my bed.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I cleaned my house every day.
I never tripped over toys, stuffies, chewies
Or invited the neighbor's dog over to play.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I didn't worry if my plants, cleansers, plastic bags,
toilet paper, soap or deodorant
were poisonous or dangerous.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I had never been peed on
Pooped on
Drooled on
Chewed on
Or pinched by puppy teeth.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I had complete control of
My thoughts,
My body and mind.
I slept all night without sharing
the covers or pillow.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I never looked into big, soulful eyes and cried.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop a hurt.
I never knew something so furry and four-legged
could affect my heart so deeply.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I had never held a sleeping puppy
just because I couldn't put it down.
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was well.
I didn't know how warm it feels inside
to feed a hungry puppy.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being
A Dog Mom
